Don't listen to the people telling you that you should have talked it out... it's pretty obvious there was no way that was gonna work given the situation. Even though working a problem out verbally is always better, sometimes physical intervention is needed, and this is a good example of that.

Kids need to snap out of the objectifying reality given to them by our society, and a few well placed blows to the head certainly can achieve that, by reminding them of the power of the subjective experience (of which they were making the bird's hell)

you should have taken it to your humane shelter.. just so you had a solid alibi if they did decide to press charges against you.. though i doubt it would stand up in court..

How are you taking care of the bird?

Best to put him in a decent sized box, a little water, maybe some bread, peanut butter, and other bird feed if you have it. You may also want to put a heating pad set to low in the corner with a towel over it.

Cover the box so it's quiet-but allow air to get in. See how he is in the morning.

It might be best to take him to an animal hospital-that would help with your story if there were legal problems. Plus if he is suffering and really hurt they may be able to help him more.

 

Hey badfish, props for givin those kids the beatdown. I'lm all about being peaceful, but its true some boys need a beat down more than anything else, and it sounds like you delievered what they were asking for.

I would recommend you search your area for a wildlife rescue rehabilitation center. If they are dumb enough to file charges, file counter assault charges claiming one threw the first punch - legally that would prove the need for a reasonable force in a self-defense claim, plus your being out numbered plays into your favor legally. If it comes to that also file cruelty to animals charges on them and contact the local newspaper. Technically you're still a minor as well if you're 17, you can let them have it like that until your 18th.

I agree that you did the right thing by beating their asses. Not sure if it'll really teach them anything in the long run, but who the fuck beats on a defenseless animals? People with insecurity problems, those are the kind of people that get bullied and come back to school one day and shoot up the place. Either that or they torture animals to feel 'in control'. It's horrible.

If the bird has a broken wing you should take it to the humane society like other people have suggested. It won't be able to live on it's own, because it won't be able to fly with a broken wing. Plus it may have sustained internal injuries from being kicked.

This kind of shit infuriates me. Like when that stupid ass kid posted a video of him torturing his OWN CAT. Did that guy get what was coming?

I put it in a big enough box on top of a sheet with nuts, bread and water and a theermal sleeping bag over the box with about 3/4 of a foot open.

There definitely wouldnt be legal problems over this, this is just a minor thing really and the parents wouldnt be bothered about it really.
Id take him to the vet but he has a grudge against me...fell through his greyhound trailer when I was 10
Iv done as much as I can and it has a hell of a lot better chance at living than he would have had on the street so we'll see in the morning I suppose.

 

No I dont think thats a good idea, their scared enough of us as it is and for a bird to go through that today and then to have me looming in at it would panic the bird to shit I would imagine.
Its wing might not be broken but it definitely couldnt fly and it was stumbling and falling a bit(?)
Not sure about internal injuries, thats a big possibility. Its pretty much fucked if it has internal injuries anyway but at least if it dies it'll be in a nicer place than it would have ended up
