Who was that decided all microwave should bleep at you? Turn it on BEEP, Press two BEEP, zero BEEP zero BEEP, two mins later BEEP BEEP BEEP! wtf. Really what is the need, you're pressing the buttons right so no need there, and when its finished why has it got to let you know, it got to cool down and if you can't remember that a few mins ago you put something in there you shouldn't be operating it. We've managed to use a normal oven and stove without the need for them to tell us the cooking has finished, so what the microwaves problem?

I always thought they beeped because they were happy to serve our needs for a quickly warmed snack.

then why did they invent cooking timers? especially the ones built into the oven?

yes i know this post was from 4 years ago. i would have made this point then if i had seen it.

i've never lived without an oven, but i regularly go several months at a time without using it, so going without wouldn't be difficult.

No I have a full size oven and a standalone microwave, but there are alternatives like a hotplate, toaster oven, and if you’re really desperate
try a Betty Crocker Easy Bake Oven

i think the bleeps started in science fiction movies. and people subliminally thought that was cool.
and people who make and sell things realized this, and started putting bleeps in everything.
and this was along about the same time micro-wave ovens were becoming a consumer commodity.

washing machines and dryers bleep at you these days, and even your car keys.
humans humans humans, as if there not being noise of some kind was frightening to them.

maybe that comes from when you were an infant, and paranoid you were being abandon,
every time your mother wasn't holding you in her arms.

me, i love the quiet, of not haring anything human.
if i can't have silence, sometimes a beep, is more welcome then a conversation, more more mundane kinds anyway.
