The companys website is a little crap for finding any decent information about removing the chip.. i found nothing..
I looked for about 10-15 minutes... I doubt this is a trechourous absence of information though.

Plus being around these forums and others like it [for a while] i have a slight idea about 'eroding liberties' debate.
There is a big 'movement' over here as well.. i have read and heard [from this side of the ponds] thoughts on this also.
Personaly i think it is all a little OTT, like this thread.
Imho the actual point could be a valid one but then people deciede to go to the extremes of possibility and then beyond reason.
It is not like i am dismising the thoughts they make, i do ask questions and try and be respectful .. but i just get people thinking i am 'working for the man' and i am brainwashed etc etc..

As a e.g.. CCTV has been with us for a while and people say it invades there privacy.. but it has been a proven deterent and worthy tool for catching criminals/terrrorists etc. I don't feel any of my 'liberties being eroded'.. If i was that anal [under the freedom of information act] i could retrieve every piece of information recorded about me..

Groups like this http://www.spy.org.uk/home.htm are even 'outdated' nowadays.. Yeah things should be looked at carefuly but perspective and reason need to be applied also imho... Though perspective and reason are subjective to individual interpretation unfortunatly !!!.

When you have finished using these devices i take it you can switch them off.. The whole point of carrying them while climbing is to be found in a emergency..
So unless you take a pot shot at the president, get caught... get a 'record' climb a mountain for secret talks with the malitia about 'taking back america'.. I very much doubt you have anything to worry .

 

Point taken, and you're right, this discussion has taken on the tone of obsessive paranoia. The bottom line is government organizations can track your every move if they want, given the current state of technology, but that would require a big expenditure of time and resources, so it's unlikely they will. Whenever I log onto this site, for example, I'm sure someone could trace my identity, my ideology, the fact that I'm liberal, dope-smokin', etc., but the fact that I'm not a threat to the government, no criminal record, and there's so many more folks like me means it probably won't happen, there's more for them to worry about than the likes of me. The key though is that I have the right to choose when I open myself up for surveillance, like when I use my GPS or when I log onto the internet, or if I use a speed pass to run through toll stations on the highway, and THAT's the important thing.

As far as microchips that would allow someone to track my whereabouts 24/7 without me being aware of it, no thank you. Furthermore, I'll pass on getting one for my three year old daughter as well.

The troop death-toll reaching the 2000 mark? Or maybe watching Alex Jones's documentaries? (nah, I doubt the latter) Baby steps...baby steps.

Anyhow, you all make valid points on the EZ pass...I've been using strictly cash lately, and I think I'll stick to that. Has anyone noticed that the Cash lanes have been literally marginalized on the road? Some are actually placed, without prior warning in some cases, at the far end of the highway...leaving some to have to cut across several lanes just to get there, risking others' lives. Some predict that the global elite are attempting to bring about a cashless society (through coercion of course, like everything else). Apparently, the first steps are now already in place, the euphemistically-named EZ pass being the obvious example.

If we don't radicalize (in the very best sense) very soon...we can all think of how we want to decorate our new rooms in the concentration camps asigned to us. That is, if we will even be allowed to decorate at all. Wild scenario...I know, but look who is now leading us down the path to darkness. The puppet is Bush, the puppet masters are Cheney, Rove, and Rumsfeld, and we, the underclass, are the targets.

RFID has been in use way before EZ-PASS. Cardkeys where the first i believe. BTW, they cant track "you" they can only track the card. Anyone can use it.North -Star, can only locate you once it's been activated ,by you, or whoever is using your vehicle.Ever heard of QUAIL- COM? they've been tracking OTR driver's for over a decade, not only tracking but also controlling the truck, oooooo scary stuff ey? If you only knew, the benefit's by far, outweigh the, burden?

I completely agree.
We are closing in on a time when slowly but surely people will be "chipped".
This is a horrible idea that must be resisted.
I am not sure if this was already mentioned or not, but for those interested in this theory there is a fictional book out called "Feed". It's a really great book and shows the dangers of a "chipped" society. Really great book, scary, but insightful.

The whole idea is complicated to explain. I read on this thread that some people were saying "oh it will be your choice to be chipped" or "its not like their forcing it on you".
But what happens when the day comes where this "chip" is created to work like the internet with all sorts of information being downloaded directly into ones mind? When 70% of America has one, and all the students in school are doing amazing because they have instant access to info, how will anyone be able to live in the world without it? How will they compete? And people will say that everyone who believes in this future is crazy, but when it actually winds up happening, well they will believe it then. Letting people control you and track you just isn't a good idea, the harm far outweighs the benefits.

I know I sound paranoid, but once you really start thinking, the idea just doesn't seem so crazy. It's basically like having a computer wired straight into ones body. I can envision a time in the future when this happens.

 

Do you have a GPS or an EPIRB/ELT?

A standard GPS unit as normally used by backpackers is a receive-only device. There is NO WAY that "they" could use it to track you. Simply NOT POSSIBLE.

An ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) or EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) is INTENDED to send a "homing signal" (along with a unique serial number) when activated by the user, to allow them to be found by search and rescue teams. Common on boats and aircraft, they are sometimes used by hikers/climbers in remote areas where they would be unlikely to be found in an emergency. But you would have to manually trigger it in order for it to work, and doing so without an actual emergency will get you a heavy fine. Many units incorporate a GPS receiver, to allow the transmitter to send your coordinates to speed the search.

But again, a standard GPS receiver does NOT allow you to be tracked by authorities.. An EPIRB will, but that's the entire idea behind carrying one....

 

I kinda figured that, I think my friend who brought this idea to my attention was under the (mistaken) impression that a GPS transmits something, but you're right, a GPS simply picks up the transmissions of three or more satellites to determine position, good point.
