"Your mother's **** smells like carpet cleaner." I have always liked Mickey Rourke, particularly in his role as Henry Chinaski (aka Charles Bukowski) in the 1987 movie Barfly (one of my all-time favorite movies). He was out of the spotlight for 15 years and has recently made a return to the big screen with the movie, The Wrestler. He has already won numerous awards, including an Academy Award, for his role in this film. I haven't seen any movies lately and was thinking of seeing this. I despise wrestling, but the movie looks interesting. Has anyone seen it, and if so, what did you think?
Some friends was it and said that it wasn't really about wrestling and that it was rather good. I wouldn't expect WAY too much out of it, but it's probably worth it. I'm gonna wait for the DVD myself.
i went to the opening and it was fantastic and horribly depressing. i love aronofsky's films. i really like rourke, too. he was actually also in sin city recently and was completely fucking badass.
I'm not a huge fan of Rourke outside of the cinema. Aside from that opinion, the Wrestler was like a power bomb of emotion, a pile driver of passion, a choke-hold of affection, a superplex of sentiment... and the kicker: it involved WRESTLING! fuck yes it did. great movie!
I haven't seen it, but I'd like to. actually, I believe the word he uses is "****". did you notice Bukowski sitting at the bar in the first scene with Faye Dunaway? especially at 1:10. http://api.ning.com/files/2t*nEpT63...BDeeKuzzUxwh3bH/NewBelgiumFatTireAmberAle.jpg
Ah, you are right, he does say "****." I fixed it. Yeah, I know about the scene with Bukowski sitting at the bar. Took me about three times watching it to notice.
He used to be better looking. I think the plastic surgery also scrambled his brain a tad. Maybe his face is on too tight...
mickey rourke. awesome stuff. i liked him so much i'd watch really bad movies just to watch him. lol. ain't i holy?
the wrestler was by no means a award winning movie. it was watchable, even entertaining, but i wouldnt waste any money to see it.. the version online is a screener so my advice is just watch it for free online..
This is when he was cute/sane... Maybe he was never sane, maybe he was a closet nutjob like Tom Cruise...
