you always need a replacement the most when you need it to work the most too. and that goes with any scale
Well I can see LEO will find a nice little gold mine if they bust you Yeah, it might when it's freshly minted, but take into consideration that it gets bumped and thrown about for a few years, tossed left and right, dropped. If a nickel were to weigh exactly 5 grams, and you had a scale accurate enough to weigh that, just the oils from your fingers would throw off the weight.
Another good rule: don't let your friends borrow your scale. I've made that mistake twice. Scale 1. I didn't get it back for a year and a half. When I got it back, it was in someone else's possession 400 miles away, missing the box, instructions, battery cover and the calibration weight. Scale 2. They moved across the state without giving my scale back. I visited them about 9 months later, and they couldn't find it, but they gave me a replacement scale (actually a better one). So I just got another scale, a great one that I won't be lending out - with a money order no less. It's the MyWeigh 250. It goes down to 1mg. Has AC power cord and a built in liquid level too, with adjustable screw leg so you can be sure it's level. $164.90 only - that's $90 less than I saw it going for 6 months ago. www.OldWillKnottScales.com No credit card required. They take money orders and checks as well. Their customer service seems to be awesome as well, although I didn't need it cuz my scale was in perfect working order when I got it. Shipping was 3 days! Two fairly cheap ones that are good for our purposes they have right now are: Jennings Mack 20 @ $69.50 20g capacity, down to 2mg Jennings JSVG20 @ $79.90 20g capacity, down to 2mg
How has this worked out for you? I have no mg scale right now. I will need one soon. Any suggestions? I have viewed many a mg scales, I am not sure what I should go with. I am guessing cheap ones are too good to be true, lol. Close to trying first rc. 2cp may be the verdict. If a scale is not found before arrival, is there a way around a scale? Thanks!
I actually have both of these and have honestly found the first one to be more accurate than the silver one. The silver one usually works pretty well but i already went thru two of them cuz even jus after weighing out about 500 diamonds it started to get finicky. the black one ive used daily for the past 3 months of so and its seen over 1000 diamonds weighed out on it. At times the black one is weird and i just turn it off and wait a lil bit then try again. but it seems to be pretty accurate for 10mg and up which is nice. my next scale i have a budget of around 400 dollars though so im gonna shop around and get a really nice one.
I have recently had the need, and bought a 'Gemini-20' by AWS (10 year warranty?)... can someone tell me if I did good or bad there ?
This is what you want I think. It has worked for me for along while, no issues, although I have nothing to compare it to, the price was just too good. Realized you ordered the cheap one, hope you didn't spend more than $25 on it.
i must have got the shittiest scale out of the batch because it was awful i ended up just tossing it, it wouldnt calibrate
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO Never eyeball doses, especially of 2cp. You need more experience to know what a proper dose looks like. But about the scales.. well fuuuuucckkk... I bought the cheap ass AMW on ebay as well. Payed like 4.95 plus the cost of shipping, didn't realize it was going to be an issue. Can I expect them to work?
I would guess you need to spend 20$ to get something half decent. When things are mass produced cheaply, especially in China, I think it's safe to say around 10% of the shit might be shit, but that's what's great about it being so cheap, it's a gamble. For me, it's been working well enough I am happy to buy a new 23$ scale every 2 years until I am dead set on a nice $250 scale. I bet your $5 scale will work OK maybe it won't last that long, Top Rated Sellers are great on eBay, that would've been the best bet probably.
same scale same feelings, but it hasnt hurt me yet. im happy with it too paid like 20 bucks but im sure its been a bit off since i got it brand new. good advice not to trust it under 10 mg
Does this seem like a proper scale: American Weigh Gemini-20 Portable Milligram Scale, 20 by 0.001 G I have seen this for as low as $25-30 2cp: check -- proper scale to ensure a safe trip:
