Nah man speed isnt meth, speed is amphetamine, not methamphetamine. Mth is basically super speed though, speed is a pretty common drug here though and ye lot in Canada and the US even get it prescribed (adderall etc..) Im glad I dont have easy access to a lot of these drugs though. Thats why Ive no qualms about trying everything once. The only drugs that I can get on hand regularly is weed and pollen and the occasional bit of opium. Everything else comes and goes. Meth isnt a problem at all in Ireland but heroin has been flooding Cork city for the last year. Its gotten really fucking horrible up there, 2007 was the last good year in the city, its gone to shit now
question for all arguing: do you think it is possible to use meth responsibly? do you think it's likely that a person will end up using responsibly? i feel like are important thoughts to consider when discussing personal freedom.
Yes. A good friend of mine used meth for 3 years, limited himself to no more than once a week. Stopped 2 years ago with no adverse affects physically or mentally, it just wasnt for him anymore. Although hes done this with a few highly addictive drugs, always kept his head above water with whatever hes done, one of the people I have most respect for actually. However for question two, I think a lot of people like to think they have more self control than they actually do and by the time they realise there is a problem its already spiralled out of control. So long as a person really knows and trusts their own limits and self control then I think its very possible to be a resonsible user of any drug but that seems to be a rarity in most people...
It's not different then people who lose jobs because they can't stop drinking, it's their own problem to deal with, no reason to use it as logic for making laws.
it's a shame we can't get legit data on that because i'd be interested in knowing the proportion of users who end up taking it too far
A)Well like I said I used it once and I wrote a quality school paper while on it, so yes I think it can be used responsibly and efficiently. B)No I think it's one of those that drugs that many will end up using irresponsibly. I don't really view it that much differently than most the stims i've tried except for the mdxx. I did feel maybe more ancy/anxious on it than cocaine but I didn't feel like I was going to go on a rampage like eating cats and putting my fingers in the oven. I'm sure if you stayed up on it you can get pretty bad psychosis but i've had some fairly disturbing cocaine psychosis as well.
Good question. Of course, responsibility is a human trait. Meth is a substance. Smoking meth isn't like taking a pill that makes you an addict. Telling kids shit like that is the reason we have such a drug problem. What I remember about drug education is "Doing drugs will kill you or make you a drug addict" But you give a person something that affects them so strongly, chances are they're gonna do something stupid or selfish with it. That's human nature. Of course there are people who can, but I'm not gonna believe anyone who tells me it's them.
... Andre Agassi used crystal meth during his career as a tennis player, when he was high on meth though he was a wrestler, when the meth wore off back to tennis player.. i know its true, i read it on the internet..
my older bro was an addict and i saw the wear and tear the drug did to him i'm never touching that shit if your on meth you seriously need to go get help
What gets me is that the law calls that lump "narcotics". Pardon me, but isn't meth an anti-narcotic? Cops don't make criminals. Legislators do. Ireland have troops in Afghanistan? Well, I don't like drugs that keep me awake, except for coffee & LSD, and the stay awake part of LSD isn't what I like. I could see myself doing a bump if I was in some life or death situation where I had to stay awake for 3 days, but that's not my idea of recreation. I can't see myself getting hooked on it.
Yeah there is a small number but thats not the reason, inter family feuds in Dublin led to the murder of a major family of heroin suppliers, other family doesnt sell heroin. Because of that a crime ring in Cork took the opportunity to move into heroin and now the city is flooded with heroin. Thats the basic story behind it...theres obviously fuck loads more to it but that would be enough to take up a whole thread...
My opinion is meth is gross, at least to me, my friend did it it, and was stuck and died from it. But on the other hand, yes it is sad, but it was his choice to do it. It was his choice that killed him. What you do to your body is your choice, it isnt always a good choice, but bc of the fact that they made it illegal, my good friend couldnt get the help he needed bc he would have gotten jail time, for the amount of meth he had. The law making illegal helps no one, not the drug addicts, especially bc for fear of prosecution a ton of them do not get hellp. and insurance rarely wants to help out someone who is carrying. I have seen time and time again. I was afraid of getting locked up when I was an heroin addict, and if it wasnt for my strong willpower I might still be an addict. Not everyone can quit cold turkey, and since there wasnt help for many of my heroin buddies, I dont even know if they are alive or dead. I only blame myself for the heroin addiction not the drug. It is like anything else, you have to know what you are doing, and it depends on your addictive personality. I have known a few people try it and never do it again. I wasnt one of those lucky ones. Decriminalization is a start, if not making it legal at least make it so people wont get in trouble with the law, and there would be more people getting the help they need. JUST my 2 cents. now I am getting off my soap box
