    :cheers2:

Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax are obviously metal bands. Saying they are more like hard rock is just retarded. Metal is not defined by extremity. Not all metal is "extreme" and there's a lot of shit that isn't metal and is just as extreme--if not more.

This should all be pretty obvious if you can see upon it from an objective point of view ;)

Metal is supposed to have meaning and attitude. Thats why I like black metal. Actually represents something. Death metal I enjoy for the technicallity of it.

I have more respect for Judas Priest and Maiden then I ever will for Metallica and Megadeth. They stayed true to their sound.

and lol at whoever said Dave Mustaine is a sick guitarist. People who have been playing guitar for a year can play his solos along with the majority of early metallica.

Dave mustaine can go make out with his bible

Judas Priest are mega trendwhores dude. They were good in the '70s, and they may have made some good songs or albums since then but they've also hopped on their fair share of bandwagons. let me be your turbo lover.

It's just silly to say that such seminal bands aren't metal because you don't like them.

Haha, can you play all of his solo's? Whether you like it or not Dave is a very good guitarist. By the way, what does the skill level of music have to do with personal prefference? Except for you talking shit about anything that isn't considered "godly".

Again, your just using a personal attack on Dave. That's like saying "Oh michael jackson can go fuck a 5 year old". It's just.... well not funny.

nah. Probly could play his solos if I wanted to, considering I can play much more complex stuff.

And I have beef with him cause he's a little bitch. Refusing to go on the same stage as Rotting Christ. Come on. Christianity and metal don't belong together

It seems like you can't get over Dave believing in something you don't. If you stopped making fun of him for believing in his own shit maybe you could focus on something else..... Like the music. ;)

I really don't get some of those arguments in this thread. Whether you hate/dislike a metal band or not, if it's a metalband it's still metal. I don't like christian metal neither (or death metal generally), but saying it's not metal is just silly.

Also, why does someone has to be able to play all the riffs and solo's of an artist you think is bad in order to express that opinion??

Seems that heavy is a synonym for good metal for Pat. That's ok, but it doesn't get you far in a good conversation I guess. I have more respect for Maiden as well, but that doesn't take away Metallica made good metal in the past (well, good may be an opinion, but they did make metal).

Metal is a very diverse music genre, and if it doesn't have meaning doesn't say anything about how metal they are or not. What the fuck, even in the black metal genre are bands who don't carry out a particular meaning man. Yeah, most metal has some kind of attitude, but they differ. Some you like, some you don't. If you don't like it it's not metal? It's all subjective. By the way, black metal is one of my fav genres as well but the genre itself contains all the shitty things that are present in other genres. Perhaps it only has a higher amount of fans that take it too seriously.

^ I agree, but there is some merit to the claim that "Christian Metal" is an oxymoron.

The idea of christian metal sounds retarded to me as well, but Pat is overreacting like many black metal fanatics.

It's ok to not like everything that's called metal without dismissing it as being metal. It's about the music, not the genre. Every genre has it's bands that don't do what you would like the genre to be. It does not matter at all. About a total different genre of metal which you don't like at all: why bother with it. You can't like all metal, nor do you have to defend such a thing as metal or a subgenre of it by calling the bands you dislike not metal at all when it obviously is :p
