Death metal generally faster, aggressive, growling lyrics.

Black metal. 10min songs, gay ass solos, sounds like dying goats vocals, typically Satanists, paint their faces.

Bad death metal is where it's at. I didn't like it until my first death metal gig when I was like 18, just the energy blew me away. Now I love it.

Black metal focusses more on themes in the realm of thought, often controversial ones. But also often has cultural, philosophical and anthropological (sp?) themes. Nature is also a common theme. Black and folk metal crossovers are plenty.
Death metal typically focusses more on gore and generally but not always physical nasty and controversial stuff like mutilation, torture, cannibalism, rape, etc.

But you're either one or the other lol. And I guess I like death metal more. It's just so.. Smashes your face off.

 

I dislike the majority of black metal. Only want the good stuff.
But its clear the lyrical themes, atmosphere and musical characteristics suit me far better than death metal.
I guess goats are just too cool for school :-D

 

I just say goats because like it's what someone said to me once at school lol. That they sound like dying goats, so I just kept with that lol.

Behemoth new sound is blackened death. I like it too.
