Geez, you're kidding me right? They are awesome! Geez, if that ain't singing, I don't know what is :sunglasse
oh aye yeah didnt read the opening post and so just thought you were a newbie to metal and wanted some good bands. silly me. nightwish are alright (they've sacked tarja now tho! wonder which direction they'll go in now!!). try listening to:- ADEMA, SYMPHONY X, DREAM THEATER, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, SPINESHANK, MUSHROOMHEAD, they're some decent bands with minimal screaming i think.
Oh, ok. That makes things much easier. I guess you weren't as picky as I thought... LOL Anyway, give the following a listen: - Widowmaker, Twisted Sister, and other projects featuring Dee Snider. - Corrosion Of Conformity - Mypollux(actually, their singer's voice is fantastic!) - Loudness - Nevermore - Iced Earth - Racer X - Dr. Sin
Wow, good thing it's the holidays, I'm gonna be spending loads of time on myspace My God, metal in French, I didn't even know that existed... :sunglasse Hm, if anyone wants to donate money, feel free, I'm gonna be buying more CD's than my bank account can afford, I think...
Haha, yeah, they come in all languages, eh. By the way, Loudness is a Japanese band. Dr. Sin is Brazilian, and many of the bands mentioned in this thread, of course, are Scandinavian. Although, many of those bands have English lyrics for many of their songs. Usually works well that way though, since they ARE fairly popular universally.
Here's some metal bands I like, maybve you'll like them too. i also dislike screaming vocals (at least in large quantities): GWAR Slipknot Have Heart (actually straightedge hardcore, but you might still like them) Shipwreck (a lot like have heart) Atreyu Judas Priest Slayer Pantera System of a Down Tool Cradle of Thorns Cradle of Filth Lacuna Coil Lamb of God Static-X Mastodon A lot of people don't like them, but I'm also big into Korn's first couple of albums (before follow the leader), and also their old demo stuff.
Ahh, I recognize some good bands there, even though some of them DO feature screaming vocals. Lietchi might get a kick out of some early Pantera songs, like "Semetery Gates". I personally prefer Phil Anselmo's singing on this album and the follow-up, "Vulgar Display Of Power". Though, Phil DOES scream on many of their songs. As for Slayer, I think starting with the song "Seasons In The Abyss" might be a safe way to go about it.
Stratface - what in the name of hell - you don't like screaming vocals but most of the bands in your list have screaming vocals such as slayer/pantera/slipknot/cradle of filth/lamb of god!!!! As for nightwish's Tarja, i don't think it was silly. The reasons were completely justified - she acted like a Diva and socially cut herself off from the band, they barely even talked when they were on tour. The expression is "too far up her own arse" and I guess she's paying for it now!
Haha Man, Wheatus. I havent heard people talk about them for so long I can't remember...Hahaha....They suck...Hahaha
But on a serious note, some bands you might be interested in: Devin Townsend Dragonforce Dream Theater Evergrey Kamelot Majestic Opeth (Singing/Screaming/Growling) Pain Of Salvation Queensrÿche Shadow Gallery Symphony X Time Requiem Vanden Plas Warmen
Iron Maiden is a good start if you are new to metal..try to listen to albums like Number of the beast,Seventh son of a seventh son,Powerslave,Piece of Mind,Killers,Iron Maiden etc..these are among their best..AMOLAD,the last album is different from these albums, more progressive tracks..
