I rest my case. I was just going to point out musical tastes and laugh, but I can see you're attempting at something positive here. I like Metal Militia, Whiplash Creeping Death, The Four Horsemen, Trapped Under Ice, Damage Inc, and Disposable Heroes.

If I were to list my top 5 favorite Metal groups.. it would be a difficult task if I were to be picky, but, in no order other than this one...

Megadeth, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Black Sabbath

Edit: Although I can't list bands withouth mentioning Kreator, Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Napalm Death, Testament, Black Label Society, Mayhem, Behemoth, Sepultura, Iced Earth, Anthrax, Deicide and Carcass.

Maiden and Metallica have ultimately sucked since the 90's. Metallica's offerings prior to the 90's were far faster and heavier than Maiden's.

I'll list three from each album

    No Remorse
    Whiplash
    Metal Militia

    Fight Fire With Fire
    Ride The Lightning
    Trapped Under Ice

    Battery
    Damage Inc
    Disposable Heroes

    Blackened
    Dyers Eve
And there is no third from AJFA as it was a sign of the end, so I'll mention Phantom Lord from KEA.

Uh yeah, early Metallica is heavier. That doesn't make them greater by definition in my book.

I was stating that they were both faster and heavier, a fact.

To say that one was greater than the other can only be supported by opinion, therefore I did not include said aspect in my statement.

metallideth you always have to have the last fucking word don't you.

personally, i think people who think 80s american bands prevail over the rest are ignorant. metal music in europe today has progressed dramatically. fair enough these older bands (which i am in no way criticising) set the boundaries but hell - someone had to be metal in the past. someone needed to give bands of today something to work on.

there is so much talent across europe as far as metal's concerned. children of bodom just say it all.

Haha, I agree almost completely with your post... except for the Children of Bodom example.

Acouple of good examples here, for those who likes pagan/viking metal in the original languages:

Lumsk is a norwegian folk metal band.

And Tyr is a faroese band singing in their language that actually is old norwegian.

You can call me ignorant, so long as I can refer to you as elitist.

I never once said european metal hasn't progressed, although it's interesting that you say that, as it certainly is questionable whether it has infact progressed or degressed. Children of bodom does indeed say it all. Boring happy jingles with lame vocals from a guitarist who idolizes north american guitarists. (see Jeff Waters) Atleast list credible european bands ... Kreator, Mayhem, Sabbath or Motorhead.

    Regardless, I maintain my opinion.
