I don't know why parents are so...hmmm...weird about their kids styles. If I was a parent I'd rather my kid come to me with a head full of dreds and percings all over compaired to having your stealing shit and getting arested and shit.

I would highly consider getting dreds if I hadn't just cut all my hair off. It used to be long. I asked my mom about getting dreds and she just laughed at me. My friend Alaina wants dreds really bad but her parents are weird about it. She does fake dreds sometimes and she looks BEAUTIFUL with them in. It's a shame her rents won't let her...*shakes head*

I recently went to this Ethiopian restaurant and saw pictures of some little ones with dreads haning on the walls. I asked our server about the pictures and he told us that there is a tribe in Ethiopia that EVERYONE has dreads. They put butter in their hair (they drive cows and use only their milk) and all over their bodies and in turn their hair dreads...

Weird how cultures are sooooooooo different than ours. It's so UNCOMMON to see anyone with dreads...let a lone a child.

"Did you put cow shit in it?" I'm, like, no. And he says "Well they aren't real dreads unless you put cow manure in it."

I believe the hinduis go such a ritual where they wash or cover (forgut which one), there hair in cow manure. They do this like once a year i belief so... You can find that in wikipedia, under dreadlocks :p... So he was misinformed, just like the majority of America...

    Adding:...
In the play King Lear, written by Shakespear. Around Act 2 scene 3... Edgar, is talking to himself and changeing himself to Tom the Bedlam. And he goes on to talk about not combing his hair. And Calling it "Elf" which is sappouse to mean that the tangled hair was created by the elfs tangling your hair. :p

Its something close to the fiery one that someone else had. I just thought it was interesting when i was reading it for school ...

I will never understand why some parents stop their children from being who they are.

LoL In poland there use to be a custom or a myth in which you let you whole head to knot up, into a big huge mess. Which brings you good luck and good health. Then it was believe once you cut it off, the hair (called a Konton sp?) would give you bad luck. :p

My pa said I look like side show bob off the simpsons lmao!!!

lmao...i get that comment all the time....in fact just last week one of the guys my husband works with told my husband i look like sideshow bob, and then told him not to tell me cuz he might end up being my bart...lmao, too funny

anyway i had the same problem with my mom when i was 18 and had my first set of dreads. my mom told me i looked ugly and that no one would want to marry me looking that way and that i would never find a job and then tried to guilt me into getting rid of them because my brother asked her why i would do that to myself because they make a person look ugly.well the first time she guilted me ino it...then i got a job, got married and yahno what?...my husband loves my dreads and so does my boss....huh who knew??
