So far I still use disp. products, but I'm going to switch next month my body kicks into gear! I've been back-and-forth on whether I want to buy a Diva cup of a Keeper - any recommendations? Functionally, I can't really see a difference. But the gum rubber of the Keeper seems like it's (a) more natural and (b) more flexible - which could be good or bad. I'm also wondering if it has a porous texture - could that be a problem?

As for pads, I'm just going to make some for myself. And if I really like the way they work for me, I'll start selling them on my online store... :)

I love my divacup (so far). This is the first cycle I've used it, but it's perfect! Not leaking or anything.

And as far as not being able to use it in a dorm, trust me. When you're in a co-ed dorm, all modesty is lost. And on the website, they let you know that you can clean it with toilet paper a couple of times, and wash it at night. That's what I've done on the way home.

NOT TO MENTION, if you use your diva cup around other women you might intrigue them enough to buy their own, and therefore cut down on even MORE waste.

I have never used a pad in my life and never plan to. Actually, that can't be true, because I think you have to use a pad after you have a baby right? Oh boy that will suck. I hate pads of all sorts. Who the hell would want to walk around with a pillow between their legs. But I guess others feel the same way about tampons. To each his own.

I hate pads, but when you're post-partum, dealing with a baby, lack of sleep, leaking boob juice and weird visitors, the pads between your legs are the LAST thing on your mind. Actually, because your first two post-partum weeks are supposed to be spent as a "baby moon" relaxing, recooperating, and breastfeeding, you spend much of your time sitting sort of reclined and the pads just don't bother you at all.

Oh that is so good to know. :) I guess if I didn't have to walk much then the pads wouldn't bother me. Or if I was just at home with family and friends.

I wear my pads at home. I'm just more comfy that way.

Shoot, I don't remember anything about my postpartum flow or what I used to catch it. All I do know is that the pads were LARGE and I was thankful!

The Sckoon overnight/postpartum pads I sell are GINORMOUS!! Very effective though, I never leaked using them.

What can anyone tell me about the sea sponge tampons? Love them? Hate them? Why?

I never liked pads either, until I got my lunapad, really. It is a little bulky, as in comparison to wearing a cup or tampon, but it doesn't bother me because it is much more absorbant and comfortable. I still prefer my divacup over the pad, but I use the pad for nighttime. They say you can use the divacup overnight as well, but I don't feel comfortable doing that...by the end of the day I want to give myself some air.

Cutelildeadbear, I really hope you aren't sleeping with tampons in, and I don't want to seem motherlike, I just worry for girls that do so because of the risk of TSS.

No, I don't sleep with tampons in, even though supposedly you can (for up to 8 hours, and I don't get nearly that much sleep). I don't use anything when I'm in bed. I'm laying down, nothing can get out. At least it never has in all these years. I guess I'm just blessed to seriously have such a light flow. I only have one day where I actually have to use anything at all, then two extremely light days. Like I said I only use like maybe 3 tampons my whole period.

I use cloth pads and organic tampons w/o applicator.

The cloth pads are so much more comfy, and thinner than even a thin mini pad. Now that I bought some, they look really easy to make.
My dd is 10 and hopefully she will never use disposable products.

I use a Diva Cup, nothing else. I switched (from tampons) because I had thought about it for quite a while, heard about them from a couple people, and decided that it would probably be best. I have super heavy periods and with other problems I've had (REALLY heavy bleeding, periods lasting 2-3 weeks sometimes, cramps that leave me curled up in a fetal position for 12 hours or more) I figured I didn't want/need a piece of chemical-filled cotton with bacteria-filled blood sitting in there for 1-2 hours at a time, and the cup is MUCH comfier.
I've never used pads, but I've never had a problem with the Diva Cup leaking.

I use cloth pads. Have since '94. In the late 90's I needed more but couldn't find any and I'm don't sew. BUT I did have a child with LOTS of cloth diapers. Some of them were 100% cotton and just about worthless for a toddler, so I started using them folded in 1/4ths They work GREAT. I have very heavy flows for the first couple of days. Even after using the same ones all these years, I still don't have to change more than 4X on the heavest flow days... and with creative folding I can make them last longer in a pinch. I'd love to be able to use the diva cup when travelling. As it is I have to use disposables because I have a septum in my vagina. [you know like that divider thingie in your nose, except no cartilage to stiffen it] So I cannot use anything internally, I just flow around them. After completely filling pads I STILL have to pull the suckers out dry. No thanks, three times was more than enough. Well, maybe the internal cups would provide enough pressure to actually work. But I'm not willing to make the investment just to find out that I flow around that too.

Where I bought my DivaCup, they have a one year money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.

I cannot say enough good things about the keeper! I have had mine for I think about 5 years and it is the best investment I ever made (I think it was like $30, so it had already paid for itself in a year). You can leave it in for 12 hours. I usually only empty it in the morning and at night. And you can't even feel it. It did take a few times to really get used to it though. Okay sorry to sound like an infomercial, but I seriously think that if every woman used one they would be hooked and think of all the waste that would be saved!
