RE: i dont understand.. you guys were like "dont generlize men, we're not like that blah blah basically, and then you rip on women...doesnt make sense and seem very hypocritical... When did I say that? You can generalize about men. We're emotionally distant (mom spanked us for crying), combative (told basically it's up to us to feed ourselves and our families - so you'd better beat out the other guys for the good jobs), and bad at communicating our feelings (why are you sad honey? Oh? Well, you're wrong. And this. And this. And what about me. What about this? About that? Let me twist your words around. How could you feel this way? What a jerk! I hate you!)
I dont generalize...and you basically said it, some of you got all shit at this post and then started so say shit about women.. it all gets very old...
i just hate this whole sex debate, ya know.. its been done to death and its not like anyone listens when people discuss it.. its pointless...
You can make generalizations about the way males and females are raised...of course not every single family raises their daughters to find a rich husband etc. or men to be so competative with everything, but many do. In these stereotypical differences in parenting there will still be people that don't fall victim to it though.
Don't sweat it. From the dawn of time to the end of time- you don't understand us and hate us, we don't understand you and hate you, but we're human beings and unless we're that lucky one in ten who prefer our own, we gotta deal with each other in something other than a transactional (e.g. checker at Wal-Mart) fashion. I think you're just a mite upset that it started out with "I hate men because" and the heat got a little too high the other direction.
Er, re the "low blow" - that implies that he's right. He read that as "you're right, but I hate you for saying that even though it's the truth."
RE: In these stereotypical differences in parenting there will still be people that don't fall victim to it though. Er, you do your kids a disservice by not doing that. Send your son to school wearing toenail polish (cause he wants to, why should we teach him what's appropriate) and he'll come home with a black eye after the very first recess. Likewise, teach your sons it's ok to come in last, and you'll have an unmarried guy living in your basement until you die.
RE: I like femmy guys! Bully for you! But hey, here's the thing - about society in general? Right now we're trying to feminize every single man and masculinize every single woman. And ladies, once you've turned all the men into Spritzer-sipping metrosexual guys you'll be whining about "where are all the real men?" Maybe you like him to swish around in a dress when you feel like it, but you want him to be able to beat that guy up in a bar that looked at you funny and take the decomposing rats out of the attic. So you teach him to be a MAN first, and then you can frilly him up later.
