This may be a slightly heavy topic, yet an interesting one to discuss. We hear a lot about rape in our society. The obvious man rapes woman. The scandalous priest rapes boy. The emerging man rapes man. ...but what about women raping men? It has obviously happened. My argument has always been that in most cases, the man who is being taken advantage of does not perceive it as rape. Would you agree? Most guys that I have known had less desirable girls come on to them when they were drunk, and some of them ended up sleeping with the girl, even though they didn't really want to. Is that rape? Should women who rape men face the same consequences as the perpetrators of other rapes? (note: I am not talking about a 30 year old woman diddling a 12 year old. I'm talking about adults) Thank you for your comments, David Patraeus US ARMY
If a man feels as if he was raped and violated by a women and his case is proven in a court of law then the women should serve as much time as a man, as for the victim, he should be castrated and sterilized for being such a pussy. Hotwater
I would hardly consider a drunken hookup "rape." Rape is sex without consent and with some sort of force. It's much harder to force a man into sex than it is to force a woman. Being forced to have sex and not wanting to have sex but doing it anyway are two very different things. That being said, I'm sure it DOES happen. Where a man is physically overpowered by a larger, stronger female. But by nature it is less common. And for that, the punishment ought to be equal, yes.
There lies the issue. When a guy "date rapes" a girl, it's usually the second scenario... not wanting to have sex, but doing it anyway. Do you not consider "date rape" to be rape? (it is probably the most common type of "rape" people think about)
Well, date rape drugs are a bit more powerful than alcohol. I don't consider them to have the same effects. Roofies make it so you aren't even aware or what is happened, many times. It also causes muscle weakness. Now...if a man is too drunk or drugged to say no and/or can't actually move/doesn't have the ability to make his desires about sex known...than it is rape. The thing about girls is that they often can't stop a rape from occuring, physically. I don't know how you can say that girls "usually" don't want to have sex but do it anyway (This implied free choice!) when date rape is committed.
Yeah, date rape drugs aside. I'm talking most about alcohol. I used to live in a college town for a long time, and there were hundreds of cases of date rape. It has happened to many girls that I know. They were simply too incapacitated/inhibrated to say no. Let's say that they weren't completely passed out, but their judgement was so clouded by the alcohol that they had sex with a person with whom they would have never had sex sober, and felt violated the next day. Does that constitute rape? The guy obviously took advantage of them. Does the same thing apply to men? I am not trying to imply anything. I'm not approaching this from my person perspective, but from society's perspective as a whole.
I don't really have an answer. I mean...really...no one should ever have sex with anyone who is too incapacitated to answer. Responsible human being, RHB101. The same thing applied to men, yes. But in this society it is usually somehow blamed on the woman.
Rape culture is prevalent in the US Armed Forced. We are simply trying to understand it. Sincerely yours, Dwight D. Eisenhower Former US Army Professional Ghost
That's another issue all in itself. I hear plenty of people saying really stupid stuff like "women shouldn't dress so sluty if they don't want to be raped." Now that's just silliness. It is still very much a male dominated society, and a male dominant world. Stand up and fight, sistas.
This is another area where I disagree with liberals. I cannot believe a woman can rape a man, unless constraints and a dildo or something was involved. When I hear about court cases, I always think, "Why aren't they asking how the fuck could that possibly happen?" I also don't believe that a female teacher can rape a male student as long as he is over 12. You just know the boy is thinking, "I've hit the lottery!"
That is usually my argument in this case. Even if society perceives it as rape, the man or boy being "raped" does not perceive it that way, especially when it comes to teenagers. To them, they really do hit the lottery if they bang a teacher.
not sure what political ideology has to do with rape is there no modern issue that doesn't get divided into "liberal" vs "conservative" ?
I was raped one time. By definition this is true, but I don't really like to call I than because I feel that it takes away from people who have gone through more dramatic ordeals. I was fubar at a party several years ago, and after violently throwing up beside a dumpster I found an empty bed to pass out in. I woke up to this girl pulling off my pants. I kept pushing her off of me but I was in and out of consciousness. I remember coming to ands beware riding my dick like a champion rodeo cowboy. Technically that's rape. But did it effect me in life? No. In fact I use it as a funny story to tell my buddies sometimes. It doesn't seem right to place that in the same category as people that have been penetrated against their will. Maybe that's the big difference. If that chick was shoving a cucumber up my ass maybe it would be a completely different story.
