Good luck with things. You are going to see a lot more of it. People who caused it to happen because they couldn't pay their rent, because they lost their jobs, because a lot of rich bankers took on too much risk, because the government and regulators didn't do their jobs. Yea sounds like it's their fault.

You age says 20. Do you have a good job? It's going to hit the young hard.

    not true at all...

that sort of mentality is what fucks everyone up in the end. "it's their fault they aren't the head of a conglomerate business...it's okay if we treat them less than people"

you can kind of tell which ones are real bums. and even if it was a fake bum it was still a nice thing to do. you just don't feel as good. and it's better cause you know that douchebag will probably become a real bum when karma catches up to him for taking money and shit when he wasn't poor at all.

A majority of people living on the streets begging for money are con artists. Some of them really do have a house and drive a nice car but for the most part it's people that enjoy living a nomadic life while getting free money to drink and smoke their days away. These people usually have alcohol and hard drug problems. Those guys standing next to the busy major roads or highway ramps are the ones that are there every day for the same reason.

A small majority of homeless people are only living on the streets because of their financial situation. Without a family to fall back on and limited job opportunities, they do the best they can to scrape by and try to earn their way back to renting an apartment.

As a rule of thumb, it's not smart to give people cash if they are begging. I don't mind buying someone a nice lunch from a fast food restaurant but I'm not going to let them destroy their life even more by buying a cheap pack of smokes or a cheap pint of liquor with the money I give them. Only once did I ever give a homeless person cash. He spent a lot of time near a park close to my friends house because of the shade, water fountains and bathrooms. Spent some time talking to him over the course of a couple weeks and decided to give him 20 bucks so he could get a proper jacket for when it started getting a bit colder at night.

Edit: Attacking a homeless person is just as cruel as dropping kittens out of a 9th story window.

I did see him a few times after I gave him the cash and he had a sleeping bag and jacket with him. I'm not sure if he used my money and other money he had to buy that stuff but the guy was just trying to pick himself back up. He told me how most of the guys he meets on the streets end up in the continuous cycle of homelessness because they drink too much, so I wasn't worried about him drinking it away. Me and a couple friends did smoke with him once though but I doubt he went out and bought weed.

Usually I get a very uncomfortable, shady feeling around pushy homeless people. They feel like door to door salesmen but this guy didn't want to take your money, just wanted to know if there were any good places to sleep where the cops wouldn't bother you and if you knew of any jobs he could work, even temporarily.

I really like the idea of having homeless people help you move. Sure, you really have to trust them but how could could a hungry guy turn down some cash and maybe a nice cookout with a few cigarettes and some cold ones?

marco, i dont think you could easily say that the majority of homeless people are homeless because they want to do drugs and drink.

there are plenty of very successful addicts living in houses and driving cars...

True addiction (crack, meth, alcohol, opiates...) will bring a person down to nothing within years. I've personally seen crack bring down someone who you would consider "very well off".

I'm sure there's data somewhere out there on the internet that links addiction with homelessness. The percentage of homeless people living with an addiction (or 7) is probably drastically higher than people with a stable income and household.

Damn this thread had me laughing my bawlz off specially does2 and the previous post about the beating. Some people can't laugh and take jokes. Word of advice taking things too seriously will shorten your life!

I've been homeless, sleeping on park benches, not eating for 3 days (I did get high though :D) From what I experienced 40% are insane and on drugs, 40% are on drugs, 15% are legit people who got raped cause of the economy, 5% own a car and house and are just conz. Those are facts atleast in newark, nj!

Fondest memory while with my homeless life mate J-dizz was when he took a hit of crack and started jumping on peoples hoods in the middle of rush hour lol!! Love crazy schizophrenic crack heads! :D

Edit: There was a tie on the fondest memory. I was sitting at a gas station in my car about to take a hit of some hard and this homeless dude was like bro you got any change I NEED TO EAT I haven't eatin in like 4 days. I said one sec and took a hit. Then he said yo I got 10$ let me get a hit please? LOL!! Needless to say I just gave him a nick for free for the good fucking laugh.

I met a homeless guy a few days ago when I was sitting outside the headshop with a few friends. he asked if we had any change and I gave him like 30 cents or something.

when I was like 13 there was this bum that used to walk around the town I lived in. he used to buy everyone cigarettes and booze, then one day he we just never saw him again.

16 is the age that is legal for getting your license and driving unsupervised across most of america with a few notable exception

New Jersey requires you to be older, some states require you to only be 15 to get your license, and some even give out licenses at 14 lolz
