I tried the vegetarian thing for almost 3 years and was the sickest I have ever been in my life. "You just didn't get the nutrients you needed," well, no shit. Look where I live. Half an hour from that Big Texan YankNBurn was talking about. The majority of my food came from potatoes and noodles because the stores here really don't offer much for vegetarians. I went back to eating meat because I was starving my body.

Some people aren't vegetarians because they just want to eat meat, some aren't because they can't be, I wish self-righteous vegetarians would pull their heads out of their asses long enough to realize that and live and let live. If someone wants to be a vegetarian, they will be, or you can help them to do it. If they don't, LEAVE THEM ALONE. You make it worse for your case when you shove it down others' throats.

I've never met a vegetarian like that. Especially not here on the forums. I think a lot of people assume we're like that. But most of us aren't.

lol...I've met A LOT. Some don't even realize they're being pushy and overbearing. But I don't assume ALL vegetarians are like that, especially not you, Annie. I used to be one, lol. If I ever said anything about it, it was just in defense of vegetarianism, not to push someone to be one also. But I have met self-righteous vegetarians.

Self-righteous could be defined as persons who believe other creatures on this planet have been put here for their amusement then make light of suffering with inane quips.

That's because people always look at stuff as it relates to them and their prejudices. People that weren't Jewish and hated the Jewish people didn't see killing them as something worth caring about but if they look at the Jewish people as people then killing them would be hard. The same with animals. Animals aren't humans but they feel, love, touch, have emotions, children and live but you don't look at them like that. You look at them as their value to you. That's why people are in a crappy place. "It isn't about us."

I don't think kicking a dog is cruel. Often its needed.

Cats... Well I just don't associate with cats.

Yes a boar bear just loves its young, so does a stag deer, and most others. Most animals love thier mate or should I say Mates. Emotions, I have yet to see a cow show too much emotion when left alone among its own. A bull forces himslef upon the cow, normally injurying the cow in the process and he also does not care if its female or male.

Humans call this rape! So do we give him a trail and then send him ot burger king if found guilty.

It will never happen. I've been vegetarian for seven and a half years now. If I haven't gone back yet...I doubt I ever will.

My favourite argument to give to vegetarians is when someone brings up the wether plants can feel pain debate... no one is 100% sure of the answer so the vegetarians reply is always 'Well... we have to eat SOMETHING'. Pretty lame comeback huh? I say eat whatever you want and don't be self righteous assholes to people who don't share your beleifs.
(I don't eat cows too often because they give me gas from hell.)

i was a vegan for environmental & convenience reasons. lost most of my hair & got sick, found out that i'd worsened an allergy to nuts & soy. so i became a hunter, still for environmental reasons. i hate to see an environment wasted for ludicrous & unnecessary tastes. i still don't eat the meat i used to, i like clean meat that feeds on the scrub & otherwise unusable ground. but a pet, no matter what, is still different. however, that being said, i'd still eat my cat or dog if i had to, & be just as grateful for it. no, wouldn't eat the kids. my pets are not "furbabies." that's a bullshit term. you'd shoot yourself in the head to provide your child with a viable heart, but wouldn't mortgage your house to save your cat.

ahhh, the old all-vegetarians-are-self-righteous thing...yes, but meat eaters can be just as assholey to people who don't share their beliefs. Case in point - i very much doubt that it was a vegetarian who brought up the "whether plants can feel pain debate"...

Also yes - that is a semi-lame comeback BUT it is the short version of this two-fold one.

Firstly, it is highly unlikely that plants can feel pain, due to their general lack of nervous system and all. It is far more likely that animals, who have a central nervous system and actively avoid painful situations, can feel pain. It seems (to some people) to be less cruel to eat the thing which feels the least amount of pain. Because pain is bad and yes, unless you want to die, you do have to eat something.

The second argument is this. Ok, Just for a second i'll pretend that plants can in fact feel pain. It's still preferable (if you are trying to limit pain) to eat vegetables only, even if the two things feel the same amount of pain.
This is because animals cannot get their nutrients from the soil like plants can. They have to eat plants (lots and lots of plants) in order to live. So, therefore, when you are eating the animal you are also indirectly responsible for the plants that died to fatten that animal up. By going straight to the plants you can cut out the middle man (so to speak) and cut out a lot of pain. So don't tell a vegetarian that they suck beacuse they are mean to plants. They might be, it's true - but if you eat meat you are mean to plants AND animals.

So yes, this isn't to say that you should give up meat. That's none of my business. It's just to say that "we have to eat something" isn't the lame comeback you might think - it's short hand for one or both of the more long winded answers above.

I think I will stick to messing up things and eat meant, lots and lots of big steaks dripping bloody juices with each savory bite. I guess you can all me an aftermarket vegi, after it fattens up my meat, lol.
