What characteristics do you feel differentiate between a mature adult and a childish one? How do you define maturity in a person? Honestly. Do you consider yourself to be a mature adult or a childish adult?
Hmm I think it's when you start to ponder the answers to the questions you once never cared about. A lot of people might think it comes down to your sense of humor, that laughing a silly joke is a sign of immaturity but I don't think so. A sense of humor shouldn't reflect maturity, but I can see how it's looked as that way.
Yeah, because "immature" might mean you play around and have fun and go on swings.. But your life is together Or immature could mean you can't keep a job or maintain a relationship, that kind of thing
I've been called immature for the movies I watch, the music I listen to, the jokes I laugh at down to my person choices in life of not having children, that I travel too much, that I spend too much money, apparently I'll never make a career out of riding horses. I'm too imaginative, I believe in dumb things, I don't take too much seriously blah blah rah rah. Like you say though, I feel like my life is together pretty well so whatevs. As long as I'm doing what's right for me I don't see why it should be anybody else business.
LOL......Did Anybody Else Read This As "Childish Slut"...???...........................??.......................??.... .....??......................??...............................Nope...Just Me Huh........ Cheers Glen.
I think maturity is knowing what you want in life and doing what you need to do to obtain and keep that life. That could mean different things to different people, for most it means holding down a job, saving money for whatever you think is important, etc. And it's also the ability to treat people kindly. And to let things go and not walk around with a stick in your ass. And the ability to self reflect, to be able to see your flaws and change them. What I dont think maturity is, is acting very super serious all the time and pretending to be very smart and sophisticated because you think you have something to prove. You can be mature and still be silly and goofy and play a lot.
Shut up about being 70, I past my 70th birthday last month and while I am trying to forget it, everyone seems to keep mentioning '70' and reminding me. At least I will never catch up with Glen.
Self control is key, as is patience, understanding and inner confidence. As to whether I'm mature, well in some ways I am and in others probably not.
Perhaps i'm the only one that thinks maturity has absolutely nothing to do with being able to maintain jobs or relationships, or knowing what you want out of life. Really? I don't recall ever meeting anyone who thought maturity had anything to do with having little to no sense of humor.
A mature adult isn’t fixated with childish behaviour such as farting or people getting hit in the nuts. A mature person is in control of their life, takes responsibility for their own actions and doesn’t rely on their parents for paying bills/cleaning up after them. I consider myself a mature person.
Still fart though, and fart more when you get older, and instead of a kazoo, starts to sound like a tuba
