i like Matisyahu, he is kind of unique, i think that´s nice. just too bad i didnt get the oppurtunity to daven with him when he visited stockholm. oh well
All I listen to is Bob Marley, for 3 years straight, then someone told me I should check out Matisyahu, for the past 3 years ive never liked ANYTHING anyone has suggested, this stuff was alright, motivational if you want it to be. But like everything its not for everyone.
Two questions for ya. 1) Why hang about the reggae forum? 2) What's the logic behind disliking religion in music? Just as 50 cent talks about selling drugs, or Charlie Daniels talks about hating Middle Eastern people, someone making a song about their religious beliefs is just their method of self expression. With someone who is apparently as strong in their faith as Matisyahu, it makes sense that their music would we full of religion. The hip-hop community refers to this true self-expression as "keeping it real."
Lay off a little man, he has a different opinion, he probobly wandered into this forum and saw a topic that caught his intrest, and he decided to give his opinion on something, which isnt out of the ordinary on a message board. Do you know that this guy listens to 50 cent or Charlie Daniels? Religious beliefs in music is a little different than selling drugs, i realize its both self expresson but come on.
Ok, in all reallity, Matis is not really a reggae genre, he is just matis, people tag him as reggae but his unique genre is actually "new york city artistic individual with a tough to pin point genre", yes ther is relegion, but you know what, isn't he the most inspiring thing since early sunday school, or the " suns of jubal" He is just awsome, and anyone who is out spoken because they just don't get it, needs to shut the fuck up.
Matisyahu is very much an enigma to me in that he sounds like he's from jamaica but, obviously, is not... rather, he's Jewmaichan perhaps? He's very original and even comical, which is why I like him.
