Mass Shooting 13 Dead Thousand Oaks California

I haven't read the details yet. I'm just getting the headline out before I leave the house.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — A gunman opened fire on a crowd at a country dance bar holding a weekly “college night” in Southern California, killing 12 people and sending hundreds fleeing in terror including some who used barstools to break windows and escape, authorities said Thursday. The gunman was later found dead at the scene.

The dead from the shooting Wednesday night also included 11 people inside the bar and a sheriff’s sergeant who was the first officer inside the door, Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said.

This is becoming an every month thing, (mass shootings) so sad!

 

Most of the 11 dead patrons of the club were college students who were there because the club hosts under 21 nights such as the Country Line Dancing night they were attending.

 

What in the world causes this sort of thing? I don't think we'll ever understand it. It feels like someone's idea of a sick joke, and it isn't funny. I probably go to the same college as half of those people.

 

Isn't usually that someone bears a grudge of some kind?

 

There have been over 650,000 Americans killed by guns since 1980. Enough is Enough. This is a perfect time to repeal the Second Amendment and take away their guns.

Yeah it seems like that's a likelihood. The news interviewed a witness who described a man with a black trenchcoat on who had a beard. It's mind boggling. It would havve to be someone who knows about Borderline. I can only imagine that guy was a former patron.

 

That would be a long shot, but I do think some revisions are in order. And I guess I'm feeling a little bit emotional about this. I already don't like guns/didn't feel safe going out places. My heart pours out to the victims' families, and my thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives in this tragic occurrence.

I used to frequent this bar quite often. Woke up early this morning to a few text. Still wondering if anyone I know was there last night.

 

I actually thought of you when I heard the news.

 

Woke up to this news this am. Was stunned. When you live in America, you just grow complacent; you accept that this just happens. You shouldn't be complacent. It shouldn't just happen. But you get numb to it. Especially when it happens somewhere else.

Literally and figuratively, this one hits close to home.

Those kids just wanted to have fun and blow off steam, and that cop just wanted to do his job and go home to his family. :-(

They say he had mental health issues, but you'll never get to hear what drugs he was on in the years leading up to this

 

And not one person I know has heard about it.
