How & when did you propose to your partner the day you got engaged ? You tube shows lots that were done thru organised flash mobs, is that the way you would like to be proposed to by your partner ?
Mine wasn't very romantic but we were young. I was only 19 when I got engaged. He was 20. We had gone together to pick out the ring. The store called me to let me know it was done being resized. He picked it up from the store and came to my dads house and proposed in the kitchen as soon as he walked in the door. It was fine with me. I don't need huge gestures to know he loves me. He shows me every day in things that he says and does.
My husband (boyfriend at the time) was discussing what our wedding would be like, so I asked him "Don't you have to propose first" and he said "Oh, I thought it was just a given we were getting married" Ah, the romance LOL That was almost 13 years ago...and almost 16 together. Neither of us were big on the whole production that some proposals are.
I didn't wanna marry. I love him and we were already living together. The formality isn't important to me. But he needed to get married and we did what was necessary. It was a good decision for practical reasons. If not, living together is just as good. As long as we're together, I'm good.
Glad to see mine wasn't the only one that wasn't romantic. He went out to get the mail (his apartment). When he returned, he said, "Let's get married." No ring or anything. I was shocked, though we had discussed it previously. I just didn't expect it that moment. The best advise I ever got was from a co-worker of mine. She said some husbands say I love you with gifts and others say it by mowing the lawn and taking out the garbage. Mine is the kind that mows the lawn and takes out the garbage. I guess you could say her insight has helped me be happier with hubby.
The coolest proposal I can think of would have to take place on a hot air balloon.. seems so cheesy, but I think it'd be a fun way to propose/be proposed to.
I just asked flat out in the middle of a conversation about her having certain problems getting her way with her daughter. I happens to be a practical solution to trouble about her mom making decisions in her life. (not very romantic but she knows I have aspergers)
My (now) husband proposed last Canada Day long weekend. It was 600 in the morning and we were skinny dipping in English Bay. The tide was way out and the ocean was calm and warm. We were the only two people around. I think I said "Seriously?!?!" about 100 times before I said yes. I called my best friend as soon as we got home and we went to her and her husbands house at 730 in the morning and drank champagne and that was my engagement party
