Federal judge signals Jan. 6-related legal challenge to Marjorie Taylor Greene's candidacy may move forward

A federal judge signaled in a Friday hearing that she may allow a Jan. 6-related constitutional challenge against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's candidacy for office to proceed, CNN reported.

The suit currently pending against Greene alleges that the Georgia representative, through her actions leading up to and on the day of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, "aided and engaged in an insurrection to obstruct the peaceful transfer of presidential power, disqualifying her from serving as a Member of Congress under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment and rendering her ineligible under state and federal law to be a candidate for such office."

 

There is a bunch of them this would apply to... They should all be booted out.

 

I hope it's successful. If it fails it could give her a mandate, and I doubt many of the voters in her district would hold those charges against her. I imagine some of them were at the capitol on January 6th!

There are a number of reasons ol' Margie's ineligible to hold office, but we need reasons that would disqualify her legally. Otherwise, as long as her constituents keep voting for her she'll be around.

Absolutely! They should be able to clean house- but Cawthorn slipped through the cracks for some reason. But, if it sticks for MTG, more will surely fall.

 

She does seem to have a large mouth, which I am sure she found helpful in her business.

The problem is --since trump--the lying, totally dishonest , empathy free, narcissistic bully has come and ( sort of) gone--the state of American politics, the state of civil discourse, the final unmasking of the republican party for what it is and what it stands for---it is now obvious, in that about 50 % or so of Americans have been shown to be classless, undiscerning fools. Many have known or should have known by observing the hucksterism throughout American life. From the endless pitching of the plastic purveyors 24/7/365, to the guilt inducing religious hucksterism that also never ceases. Politics and the rest of it is not going to return to polite ,collaborative discourse ever again. Those days are gone. People in all areas of life now have given themselves permission to lie, cheat, steal and generally comport as any type of asshole they wish to be. This now includes politicians that show themselves to be completely shameless and able and willing to emulate their cult leader. To be expected, I suppose.

The system has always been rigged for the rich and for those willing to employ the political gamesmanship required of any era in which their fealty to one faction or another, is a ticket to election and privilege, be it anti civil rights, abortion, war, or any other issue that comes before the "esteemed " body of assholes who seemingly have been selected now for their "tell it like it is" blustering, hollow ire at their mates across the aisle. Nope. Consideration, collaboration and and the fine art of give and take relative to melding differences into finished law is done.

We now even have some American politicians fawning over a known , murderous dictator that has people --those who dare to dissent from his thuggish policies, --shot , poisoned, jailed or just disappeared forever. And this, even as he is killing men women and children by the usual means--that is --blowing the shit out of people. He wants that area--so he's taking it. Just like over the thousands of years of human history. The more things change , the more they remain the same, in many cases. Fine fellow for some of our politicians to worship. Real smart. Tough leader. Thanks trump. You fuckin' prick.

So, buckle up. I"ll be long gone, but I don't doubt that this experiment in government by the people, for the people will come to an end this century. Who knows---the continental US could turn out to divided down the middle. One half Russian--one half Chinese. Who knows what the rules are any more?

What a bunch of Sausage-heads. It’s amazing to see all of this going on and wonder how many generations are going to have to deal with these knucklehead freaks!!

 

Well, methinks they have always been there, but it took one chief knucklehead to round them all up and point them in the same direction. Like how they steer a herd of zombies.
