The Senate passed a stopgap bill to fund the government through December which included 18 billion dollars to fund FEMA.

Scott voted against the bill, Rubio wasn’t in attendance, and in the house all 16 members of the Florida GOP voted against the measure.

 

Exactly- that’s the first thing I thought about!

 

Yeah, the rhetoric is out the window when you have peoples lives in your hands and you have to actually “Lead”

 

Matt Gaetz was also one of many Republicans to vote against a stopgap measure that would continue funding the government and provide billions of dollars in extra disaster assistance.

"Any legislation that sets the stage for a 'lame duck' fight on government funding gives Democrats one final opportunity to pass that agenda," the letter said. "Therefore, we, the undersigned, will oppose any continuing resolution that expires prior to the first day of the 118th Congress, or any appropriations package put forward in the remaining months of this Democrat-led Congress."

So he's calling the current congress a lame duck, indicating he has no doubt the GOP will take back the House and Senate in the midterm. Gawd I hope he's wrong, but in any case is this a valid reason to vote against disaster relief? Hasn't he seen pictures from Fort Myers Beach?

 

They’ll fight AGAINST something that they would approve if the GOP had the House. Anything that makes total sense and is a “no-brainer”, they’ll simply vote against it because it’s not their show.

I don't know, but call me crazy, the logical place to start is just to not commit crimes. However, that's a circular conversation and I am biased. I grew up in a shitty diverse neighborhood, where everybody's dad worked the same shitty factory jobs and made the same shitty money. But out of the 8 of us - nobody ended up in jail or a gang or got shot or shot anyone or ever looted or burned a store or trafficked people or drugs. There were no social or outreach programs .... oh please...you did the right thing and tried to get the hell out of there.

 

They don't need proof. They just say whatever pops into their sick minds, and are confident their brain-damaged fans will believe it.
