Yes, very much looking forward to the sweet sixteen matchups, if my predictions hold: Virginia vs Kentucky, Cincinnati vs Tennessee, Villanova vs Wichita State, Butler vs Florida, Xavier vs Gonzaga, Michigan vs UNC, Kansas vs Clemson, Duke vs Michigan St.
Wish I followed NCAA like I do NBA. I just don't have time. I'll enjoy as many games as I can view. Chances are ill have to find hidden links for broadcasts.
I follow pro hoops, but college is harder to get into. NBA only requires that kids play one year. So every year, teams change dramatically. I find it frustrating and hard to be a fan. Plus, my Alma Mater suuuuuuuuuxxxxx...
basketball is an awful sport, and college basketball is the most boring level of basketball. i can't figure out why march madness is considered such a big thing.
Oh, but you be wrong!! Would you rather watch soccer? Hockey? Golf? Bowling? B-Ball is a beautiful sport with lots of scoring, slick fake outs, incredible moves and continual action. I'd rather watch my laundry go 'round in the dryer and make up stories about what my shirts are doing to my pants than watch those other "sports." But--of course to each his own.
from a personal perspective, it's incredibly boring to watch and it's not fun to play either. from a professional perspective, basketball has somehow developed a culture that makes the players and the parents of players into assholes. even people who are great when playing other sports, if you put them on a basketball court they start threatening little kids and breaking stuff. of course, basketball parents are the worst ever. so many people want their kids to play basketball, but nobody is willing to help in any way (coaching, reffing, etc), and when someone is willing to help out the rest of the parents are sitting there threatening them for it. that shit doesn't happen in other sports, at least not anywhere near the same extent. nah, but i'd rather play any of them.
I couldn't disagree more. It's the only sport that isn't decided until the last moment. Teams down by 20 points with a few minutes left can still compete and come back to win. The fourth quarter of game three of the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals is basically porn to me.
that's part of the reason i find it boring. yeah, there needs to be some reason to keep playing the whole game, and while hard to do it is possible to mount a great comeback in most any sport. but in basketball, the first 42 minutes (based on pro game length) is pretty much pointless.
I've never been a fan of the NBA but I love college bball. During March you get to watch teams that never meet play against one another. Now that I think about it the only profession sport I'm a fan of is MLB.
You could make that argument for any sport? If you're only into win/loss the first 95% of any sport is pointless. If you only want to know whodunit, the first two hours of a mystery movie is pointless too. But, for some of us, it's about the first 47 minutes of the game, not the last minute. Anyway, Celtics tip off in 10 minutes, so I'm about to check out
This is one of the reasons I love this game. UMBC (Maryland-Baltimore County) stuns Virginia to make NCAA tournament history as first No. 16 seed beat No. 1 seed. UMBC stuns Virginia to make NCAA tournament history as first No. 16 seed beat No. 1 seed
Gads, I forgot to mention Nascar! BORING! Basketball is a game of fractions of a second sometimes. Many times. You have the ball , you're going to make a move--you go--oops you go the other way, you swing your arms in the proper manner as you go and pass by him/them to preclude your opponents from touching it, if he's bigger- you go under--MAYBE. If you have odd timing as I did, you don't take the two steps before you shoot----you just run through at the same speed and flip it up before your opponent can figure out what happened. That's just one little deal that got me through--again and again----there are dozens of other tricks I employed to make my shots. I practiced crazy shots , hook shots, weird shots-----hundreds and hundreds of times until I basically could just shoot from any body position. I wasn't fast, but I was quick. I know no one really cares much about what I COULD have done--but I know that I could have made it, had I not liked to smoke, drink ,hang out and just give B-Ball up. That's my little story --last time I played was in city league with very big guys from Detroit that were going to play for the college in town. I fouled out in the third quarter with 38 points. In the next game , I was going off again and a guy stomped on my foot ON PURPOSE. That's one way to stop someone. Sorry for the bragging---------but there it is. I love the game and wish I could go back and---------I was 6'3"
Lol want a kleenex? Had a bad experience by getting pushed around and now got your tail between your legs?
Basketball is fast paced, lots of scoring, awesome show of offensive and defense by players who play both sides of the court. I have a hard time with NCAA as well because the teams just change so fast.
umm... no, i'm ok. i've had a bad experience in that a big part of my job is running sports leagues, and for some reason basketball players and their parents act like jackasses, similar to your post. but i still do my job, despite all the broony trolls out there that try to ruin it for everyone else.
