Many Americans Live In A Fairy Tale Of What's Going On In The World

There are no REAL communities anymore. There have not been for a very long time. This notion of the masses working for some greater good is something I find laughable because the masses have allowed themselves to be manipulated by the few for the benefit of the few. So I guess I just don't have the blind faith in humanity that you do. Sadly, humans have essentially been slaves since the time of so-called civilization and the creation of banking. People think they have free will while they're doing someone else's bidding. There are no better slaves than those who believe themselves to be free.

And since when does being an individual equate to seeking power? Most TRUE individuals are loners and hermits who would never think about wanting to exercise power over someone. Besides, politicians have bosses. They don't simply get to do what they want.

 

Look Matt, I often WANT to take you seriously. I really do. But you seem often too lost in theory and the convictions you have based on that (apparently). There are no real communities anymore at all? Dude, maybe that looks like that to you. But how many communities have you investigated in person, yourself, physically (not on the internet or by reading some enlightening article)?

 

There's a difference between being 'awake' and criticizing things you haven't even taken the time to understand.

Some people find comfort in believing the world is unfair, probably because they're deeply unhappy and rather than accepting the blame for their own unhappiness, they blame the world around them.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be critical of the government, the system, whatever... obviously there are issues that need to be discussed and we're not living in a perfect world. But too many conspiracy theorists I've met are just blindly outraged, going on unfocused rants that always come back to the whole 'wake up, sheeple' narrative before dismissing anyone who doesn't agree as a brainwashed victim of the all-powerful enemy who is about to take over the world.

In order to address the problem, you need to know what it is. Some people are convinced that EVERYTHING is the problem, there's nothing anyone can do, and anyone who is happy (but not necessarily satisfied) is stupid and brainwashed... that's extremely unhelpful in terms of actually improving the situation.

 

If this is about your own alternative viewpoints, I have to break it to you that it seems to be your specific approach and wording that is shunned (NoxGas excluded I guess, although... even when he shits on your viewpoints I have the suspicion it is partially and maybe even mainly because how you communicate them). This of course also counts for futureawaits/LornaDoom, in a slightly different way. You seem more sincere and serious.
I mean it when I say it is sometimes a pity to see you struggle with the reactions you get when you make valid points but they get lost in how you communicate those points (especially when you say stuff like you don't care at all what other people think what you write down here. You know it does not make sense..). I understand were either side is coming from but can agree with neither.

 

It is not predicting if you see a culmination of events leading to a probable outcome. See, the problem with humans is how they see time. To us,a year seems like a long time, we are impatient and don't grasp something that takes hundreds of years to form..

 

Extremes are rarely good. Too many Americans are ignorant of too many important facts, but I don't go along with the point of view of a lot of angry hippies who think that nobody should rest for a moment or do anything fun until all the problems in the world are fixed. That's never going to happen.

Sometimes people have an over-inflated sense of their own importance and influence. If the radical group that hangs in Battery Park in Asheville was able to close down Patton Avenue from now until the end of time, 99.9% of Americans would never know or care.

It's important to be politically and socially aware and active, but you have to mix in some good stuff too.

 

I don't think people are necessarily unaware that there are dire issues that need attention, as much as nobody is giving them direction on what to do about. People do care about greed and corruption and hunger and homelessness, but it may seem to them that doing anything about it is just slightly out of reach. It's like those charities that set up at the grocery store where they hit you up for money as you check out to donate. If everyone gave a little there would be a lot.

 

And then there are the people who think all we need to do to get back to the "good old days" is to reverse all social progress and revert back to a time when women and minorities "knew their place" and everyone was expected to go to a mainstream church every Sunday.

 

In that way America and it's culture is based on delusions and fantasy in the first place. No no, I am not shitting on your country in particular (it is just that the thread is about the US). It counts for my country's culture too when we look at how it and society was in former times... and how certain minorities are regarded and treated today too. But happily only by another minority. Overall it has become a bit more progressive over here.

 

I don't care what the dooms-dayers and conspiracy theorists say, I'm going to the beach every chance I get.
