Man Points Vaping Device At Police

A guy in California was shot dead by police after disobeying commands and pulling a vaping pen from his pocket. Sounds like 'suicide by cop'; what does a reasonable person expect will happen if someone pulls an unidentified object on a police officer and takes a 'shooting stance'? I'm not really sure there was anything else the cops could have done in this case...now the town of El Cajon will endure days of riots, aka 'peaceful protests'.

I what universe are cops NOT dicks? With this in mind, why on earth would anyone think it's a good idea to fuck with them? I wouldn't even point a finger at a cop, why give them the excuse?

And that's really the question I want to ask in so many of these cases, "why, why give the cops an excuse to beat you or kill you?"

They should be wary of them but not scared. They might be the wrong person for the job if they are.

 

I agree. I wouldn't say they should sit around and have a pow-wow with fellow officers to decide if that thing pointing at them is a vape cig or a lighter or a pen or a gun though.

If you were a cop,someone at close range....doesn't even have to actually pull out anything, just reach down their pants, in their pocket, behind their back..And you as the cop know really you've got under a second to react.
Seriously what would you do? Not that I bothered reading the article yet, as to whether it was close range, but that that even matters

Most cops are just average joes, paying off the mortgage, maybe a couple of kids, they are dicks? They are supposed to risk all that becuase some moron thinks they are supposed to be able to read his mind?

Why is it dumb to expect police to be trained to work with and keep their cool around the mentally ill?

Not making a commentary on this particular situation, dude should have kept his hands where the cop could see them.

But in general, handling the mentally ill should be a core part of a cop's training. Also working with the deaf, blind, any kind of handicap.

 

What magical training to you think there is that stops them not shitting themselves if someone acting strange suddenly adopts what looks like a shooting stance and pulls out something that may or may not be a gun.

Again, to you, Asmo, anyone else, what would YOU do if it was YOU in that situation. Go for the tazer, hope that works before he has a chance to get out a round of two.

Well like i said i'm not talking about this specific situation.

But there have been situations where police respond with force and it turns out the "perpetrator" is deaf and didnt hear their instructions, or autistic and didnt understand.

 

The police are chicken to black people and 1st instinct is to blow them away
