Hey, y’all. I have a big heart for gardening. The whole experience is magic. If I remember what I read somewhere, sometime, and the information is accurate, which I bet it is, seeds have all of the energy and nutrition to sprout themselves into a seedling all on their own. If you think about how you can make sprouts in nothing but a paper towel and water, I guess that makes sense in a way that we’ve all seen before. I just think plants are so cool. You stick them lil puppies in some medium, throw a little moisture their way, and in their own natural time they’ll just pop up outta that soil like they’ve got places to BE. They’ve got the drive, little sprouts. Once they’re here they just want the right attention, good air flow, proper moisture, and the sun in their preferred portions. The joy they bring to so many people is boundless, much like the varieties of plants we grow. You know what else is cool? Dirt. Soil. It’s one of my all-time favorite smells, good dirt. It’s basically magic as well, man. You take all the scraps from the food we eat (the good kind, anyway), put it all in a pile with some grassy nitrogen and dead leaves for a while, or feed it all to the worms, and boom, dirt for the seedlings to grow to their fullest potential. I just came here to ramble to ya’s a little bit about the good things in life. Growing joy, getting dirty, sharing the gifts of plants. Got a brown thumb? There’s something you can grow, I believe it. Everyone just needs their gateway plant, ya know?
I love the flow of the seasons in the garden - from early spring when I see the first signs of the new growth popping up from the dirty, to the time when the spring flowers are full bloom - then on and on, through the summer... the garden changes on a daily basis. As much as I love fall, I am sad to see if come because the things that once flourished end up dying. Summer is so wonderful. Let it last for a little while longer.
There is a time for everything ❤️ I say this but I also know I’m gonna be cramming my non-wintering plants into my tiny ass house so they survive through the cold til next year but I also love the seasons and the necessity of change. It’s the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming seasons and to reflect on how better you can improve going forward. I welcome fall; summer, I am ever waiting to see you again. I’ll be right where you left me to pick back up where we’ve left off thanks for connecting ❤️
