Shortly after opening our HF account, I got a message asking whether I was wearing my pants or skirt that day.
From our screenname the guy had assumed that I was a transvestite, it was so funny.
For weeks afterwards, when Jane was getting her clothes out for work, she kept reminding me not to accidentally put them on. It kept us amused for weeks.

 

There's a lot of talk of gender fairness, but I've yet to see it touch on why it's normal for women to wear pants and aberrant for men to wear skirts. Kilts aside but those are seen rarely. To me it's just another one of those double standards. There's no practical reason for it.

I made myself a couple of skirts (from jeans). They're super comfortable. But I never dared wearing them out in public settings, not until I connected the front hem to the back at the middle with a little strip of jean material. That makes it look like shorts when walking around. It loses some airiness but compromises must be made to avoid being perceived as a perv. And I have to use extra caution to avoid what's under from being seen. With shorts I can be seen and it's easy to pull it off as unintentional. That would be a hard case for a guy to make if wearing a skirt.

Maybe that's a key factor... If lady parts are seen up a skirt then no fuss is made. The viewers just consider themselves lucky. In the worst case they might think the woman dopey. But no one is creating a scene or calling the cops. If a man is seen wearing a skirt and his parts show then another double standard kicks in where that's totally unacceptable and could lead to disastrous ramifications.
