I am happy to say once again about my birth at the Rainbow Gathering this year. I had my baby the day before the big Om cirlce on July 3 at 3 am with an awesome and beautiful midwife, RN, and a healer woman. I gave birth in a tent but spent most of the labor hugging trees in the forest. No drugs, no problems. Baby came out smiling at dad. The drum cirlce even stopped when she cried for the first time and didn't start up until noon of the next day after the Om. Amazing!
i had a ton of problems BF Leane. Seeing that you were able to BF your other babes makes me a little more hopeful with the next one. Now to answer the post ... I had Leane in a hospital, and I had an awsome experience. It was actually a hospital built primarily for births. I had great nurses and my doc was awsome. He also had a resident who had gone through the pregnancy with us, so he was also there. We really liked him too. He would even come to the hospital to see us when he wasn't even working...he just said that he wanted to see us. I wanted to see how long I could go without any meds, but after 34 hours and 2 nights with no sleep, and 72 cc's of pitocin every hour, I got the epidural. I made it to about 6 cms, though, and I was the only one in the hospital that day who wasn't screaming, so I still felt pretty proud of myself. My doc couldn't believe that I pushed her out....I'm 5'2 and she was 9 lbs 3 oz! He was convinced I was gonna have a c-section. I keep wondering if I could have done it without the epidural...I'll try for next time, but I'm not going to beat myself up if I end up with one. I really wanted to use a midwife, but they're not insured here. The small hospital that we have that's a couple minutes away specializes in midwives, but I couldn't afford it. But when all was said and done, I had an awsome time and would do it plenty more times in a heatbeat!
Our son's due date wasn't until September 24, 2005. On Labor day my husband and I were going out that morning at about 8:45 to go buy him some jeans, I was still pregnant. Some bitch decided to lock up her breaks in front of us and my husband swerved to miss her also to pass her and that's when we were in the accident. I was awake through the begining and the end. The accident enduced my labor because, yes, at least I did get to feel the labor pains (contractions) they hurt like a bitch, escpecialy when the perimedics moved me out of our wrecked KIA. Then at the hospital they went to check on the baby because I was complaining of abdominal pain, then they found out that he was under a lot of stress and also that's when they found out that my uterus ruptured. The sad thing is I don't know who delivered Skye or anything to that nature. I just wish that I could have done it the way I wanted to.
I had my first in the hospital but really felt the experience didn't reflect what I wanted. So with the second, I had a planned homebirth in my bathtub surrounded by strong women - 2 midwives and a wonderful doula. The baby was born at 6:50 am on boxing day and our family was asleep in our bed by 10 am. Everyone else was gone. It was the most empowering and peaceful event of my life!!
i'm going in this morning for my preop testing. i've been really sick and my blood pressure is no longer resonding properly. i may have to stay the night. my mother in law is watching my daughter. i'm getting sterilized this time. i'm not much good at theis pregnancy thing.
You know KC, you do pretty damn good actually--just look at your gorgeous little girl, and the one you'll get to see in a couple of days! Pregnancy is hard work, and it's ok that your body wants to resist! I sure don't blame it! i also don't blame you for being done with it though, you deserve a break!!! ***hugggsss*** Can't wait to see some baby pics!
