i have been starting to carve west coast first nations art, im going to attempt to carve a pipe with either a wolf head or a eagle head for where the bowl is going to be, the kind of wood i am going to use is red cedar.

should i use a metal bowl from a store or use the wood for the bowl ?

does any one know what kind of wood is used in the wood tobacco pipes that u can buy in the stores?

i have a pipe with a coconut bowl and the bowl doesnt burn away , but it is much harder than red cedar.

I'd say use a metal head if its for smoking outta heavily. One of the resons the wood heads dont burn up on tobacco pipes is because they aren't used constantly and arent fired up with a lighter everytime someone hits it. Tobacco pipes are Usually used solo
