I think that what she is saying is that she doesn't want it to be easy for people to listen to only the cannon part of her 1812 Overture. Since Sgt. Pepper came out, the idea of an album as a unit rather than a collection of seperate songs has waxed and waned. Focus on the song rather than the album seems to be in fashion this half decade. This is not suprizing that given the commercial, "I don't hear a hit" driven industry. While on-line is a path around corporate control of music, the practical considerations of on-line music also favor a song focused approach. Woodstock is trying to forge her own path.
Well you obviously can't expect people to like every single song you put out. Let people listen to what they want and be thankful if they choose to hear more than just one of your songs.
Woodstock, if you make it, I'll try and animate it it for you. I've been kind of low on motivation lately. Perhaps together we could put something together that would capture the imagination of the world. And maybe change it. Here are some samples of what I've done in the past. http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/ocean.html http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/dreams.html http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/peace.html http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/memorialday.html http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/whistle.html http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/towers.html http://www.tco.net/~phacker/scooter/stand.html
I think your ideas and ambitions are very inspiring and you can make them happen! I'm your age and I can't wait to get out of school to get out in the world. Good luck in fulfilling your dream!
I am digging what MikeE said. I have to say that i love the album as a unit instead of 12 single songs, and think that the music industry DOES focus a little too much on singles. Actually, now that i think of it, some of my favorite music is a melding of songs to form an album. the Grateful Dead rolled with songs that seemed to speak to one another, in fact, once they started doing it, they frequently had songs that were played together (mostly in 3 or 4 song stretches) And Dark side of the Moon is a musical story that is pretty awesome. And lets not forget GameHenge by trey and the boys of phish. That is a pretty lengthy story. And i have to say my favorite are definately by the beatles. You have to love the yellow submarine....and even though a few might argue, i think the Abbey Road compelation really goes amazingly well when listened to all together. But that was the beatles. They were the first true musicians that spoke to me in my life. You know, woodstockchild, you may want to consider making an entire album that focuses that way. It could go in and out of itself, but still have a basic theme or message. Then you wouldn't have to worry about putting it out there for free or putting it on itunes or whatever, because everyone would be more likely to want to listen to the whole ting based on the fact that it all goes together...it is one. People would really want to buy the album or at least download the entire album on itunes. Then you would really have something to work with for a festival, because you could make it an entire muscial experience! I think that would be awesome....
If only we could love We wouldn't need to fight To prove we're right There would be peace. If only we could love There'd be no need for violence And no one would be silenced The bombs would cease. But we're drenched in so much hate The blood we're spilling shows our fate Why can't we learn to love? If only we could love It wouldn't take a gun To prove we'd won We'd end the fight. If only we could love There'd be no deceiving And make-believing So war seems right. But we're drenched in so much hate The blood we're spilling shows our fate Why can't we learn to love? If only we could love There'd be no need for killing We'd all be willing To share the land. If only we could love We'd try to stop the fire Before the flames grow higher And united stand.
Write a song for Rachel. I think the American youth would gather around her story. http://www.rachelcorrie.org/news.htm Sometimes it just takes one song to gather people together. She died trying to make the lives of Palestian children better.
I gave all mine to, two of my cousins so they still live on I travel lite I also don't put too much stock in photos but I do have a few. . . . . . . . what I enjoy are the memories I have and the older I get it's like why are they all doing that? Don't Buy Into What The Man Wants You To, turn off that TV and get out there and live. IMHO
I go there all the time. I don't know how pleasant it would be with the rain - but it's great town. I know you would enjoy it.
They just built a new ampitheater where woodstock was held. the pictures are beautiful, and you know that place has to have good karma. Also, Phil lesh and friends was the 3rd to ever perform there! Now thats where you should play, woodstockchild.
Christ how awful that would be - a new woodstock revolution - If it was anything like the last hippy revolution everyone will discover heroin and sit around pretending they they are hindu gurus - wow man! If I were you lot I would base a revolution on the idea of banning drugs and getting a real revolution together - no revolution happened just because some trip heads thought they could see pretty petterns everywhere
Banning drugs?!?!?!?! Ah. I see you've let the government and society spoon-feed you lies!!!!! Do you really let society shove propaganda down your throat????? Well, I don't. I don't take part in government conspiracies. Hell I think drugs should be LEGAL. It's worse than I thought. Do you like cops too??
