    Most of these childhood diseases were already in serious decline when the vaccines first came out and what defeated them were improved hygiene,
    improved diet, proper waste disposal/sanitation, and prenatal care.

    My mom got polio back in the forties. She spent her senior year of high school hospitalized. She spent a good time of that in an iron lung. Because of that one of her arms does not work.
    So, we always got all our vaccinations.

    We got the polio vaccine by sugar cube. They bused us to the high school and we went through lines in the cafeteria.
