Somewhat interesting, way long on blah-blah theorizing, but fascinating to learn that MDMA was discovered 5 centuries ago!!! One wonders what other factual errors are in the article. http://www.theatlantic.com/health/a...sic-s-love-affair-with-mdma-a-history/279815/ I'll take psytrance.
HAHA @ MDMA being discovered 5 centuries ago. It was an interesting article for the most part, I like Doblin and Rushkoff's quotes. The rave culture is naturally transient, by that I mean I think that many don't feel it's the same a few years into it as when they started raving in the people and experiences. The diminishing returns aspect of MDMA often will make some not feel the deep empathogenic connectedness like their first several times ( I have been fortunate that I have not experienced significant diminishing returns) which I believe leads some to jadedness or seeking something else and then the music is constantly changing as well. Now that certain aspects of rave culture have been embraced by the mainstream and commidified some of the tenants like the article mentions, it'll be interesting to see how things play out as far as it's mainstream appeal after the recent incidents at Ultra, eventhough I probably won't be paying much attention to the mainstream.
