Love them or hate them? I'm in a love/hate relationship with them. Basically this started as a child, I was always under an aerial attack during swooping season. One son of a bitch even got right near my bottom eye lid at some point. So I hated them. Then when I was an apprentice we had one in the steelyhard and we'd feed it every day, we got that thing fat as but when it had kids it decided to swoop all of us. So fuck you is what we said to it and never fed it again. My backyard is apparently teaming with worms or something under the grass because we have a family of magpies that is feeding a few times a day from it. I nearly got the young one to come inside my house the other day but I didn't because I figured it'd be messy tryin' to get the bugger out. And yet, I know it's going to swoop me in 6 months and I'll hate on it again.
Been Feeding Maggies Every Day Here On The Farm Since I Built My House 30 Years Ago, And I Have Never Been Swooped. Quite The Opposite In Fact, Each Year The Parents Bring Down The Babies To Meet Me, This Season They Have 4 And I Can Hand Feed 2 Babies And 1 Adult. There Are Lots Of Pine Trees Here Some Up To 70 ft Tall, And I Have Been Told That Back In The 1920's And 30's The Nickname For My Farm Was "Magpie Hill".... Cheers Glen.
I like watching them outside swooping season. My daddy also feeds them and they bring their kids down to feed too but they still swoop lol. I think it's because he has a dog though.
