Macro Photography

    I just bought a brand new digital cam (8 Megapixels) and the macro setting isn't that great... Any ideas on how to find out the macro ability of a camera? Do I have to zoom in for a closer macro shot?

    As it stands, I have to be about 5-6 inches away from the subject so that it comes into focus.
