There are a lot of other small companies out there building gaming systems, it's just that Alienware was one of the early entrepreneurs to work that niche market, two guys and a garage is how they started. That's why/how they got big enough to get Dell's attention. But the underlying principle holds valid, lots of companies making/selling PC's are around that are not accounted for in those reports. Add them all up plus the ma&pa shops and do-it-yourselfers and you can easily add a lot more PC sales to the figures.

As far as the memory is concerned, your mistaken.
The BIOS reads the memory SPD settings and goes by that, then that info is relayed to the app, Everest Ultimate Edition, that generated the report.
The reason why the ram reports as 800mhz is for compatibility with certain BIOS at the time, otherwise it would hang on boot, or just not recognize the memory. I had to jack up the memory voltage to get it to run faster than 800mhz per OCZ's instructions. Now it appears they are no longer in the RAM business.

Actually the RAM is currently running at 1000mhz because of some limitation of the particular MOBO revision. If I only populated 1 or 2 slots it runs at 1066 no problem. With all 4 slots populated the best I can get is 1000mhz.
My system is also OC'ed from 2.5 ghz to 3ghz.
Here is a screen cap of a benchmark I just ran:
Notice the memory BUS speed of 500mhz, and how it reports memory type,

You actually gave me a chuckle when you tell me to check my BIOS settings.
I did say I've been building and servicing PC's for 20 years, didn't I, Don't ya think I know my way around a MOBO BIOS?

I actually fucked around with these setting for weeks before I just said Fuck it! and left it where it is.
I've been tweaking BIOS settings and overclocking ever since I jacked my Pentium 100 to run at 125mhz almost two decades ago. LOL.
    Don't think I've had a system since then that wasn't OC'ed.

Well I think this conversation is pretty much played out.

    Have a good day.:2thumbsup:

I'm not sure how "my shit don't work, the BIOS setting doesn't do what it says it does" fits with you trying to make me sound silly for telling you to fix your shit.

    Also, silly timings are silly.

However, you don't get it, still. You tried to make it sound like I knew nothing about PC's and so clung to gooey GUI's on my mac, but that's not the case. So you go back to the "blah blah blah older than you, used older computers than you for longer than you". Yeah, I got a pent 1 too, it's running os/2. Did my socket 7 OCing on the first PC I built, a MSI board with physical switches, on K6's and K6-2's. Pretty sure this counts as using PC's long enough to know that current macs are just fine, and you're full o' shit, because you SELL PC's. This is a PC salesman (and we all know, computer salesmen are a few tiers below used car salesmen in honesty about their wares) telling us what kind of computer we should buy.....
