I don't mind honey or dear. It's not teens and 20 year olds that call me ma'am it's usually people in their 50's and I think it's silly lol. People in their teens 20's and 30's don't call me ma'am for the most part and that's what is really strange. By the way, the rule should be Men and women over 50 unless otherwise dirrected. I had this guy call me ma'am but told me not to call him sir but he was older than me. That's not fair guys! lol.
do they call guys ma'am too? that would be a trip if it were universal to everyone. i think a universal generic polite noise would be cool. one that carried no weight of ANY implication. hoomanity probably isn't that togather yet, but there's always hope for some day. i don't get out much so no one's called me ma'am yet. i'm not sure how i'd feel about it if they did. it would sure seem kind of wierd since i'm neither female nor gay, but what the heck, everything chainges and evolves so who knows. (i try to address everyone as whatever won't offend them. sometimes that's pretty hard to guess. i generaly DO avoid honorifics unless the situation and the person requires it, but again that can be damd hard to guess. another reason i have for not trying to be very social. that and my frequent mental blockage against remembering names and faces.) =^^= .../\...
WHat happened to hey you or hey buddy. I've had wat's up? (I'm running out of cute things to say about that lol.)
I mean in general, not specifically directed at me. I almost never hear anyone say it nor do I say it.
