JUST A FEW THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO A GUY along the way in life.Fallen off roofing 4 times. Did a beautiful swan dive off one in Seattle and landed hard. Doctor stuck a needle in my upper lip to deaden it for stitches. Hurt worse than the fall!
Had a gun pulled on me from 4 feet away. Feet did their duty.
Hit a truck and trailer full of lumber going about 100 MPH. Of 4 in front seats, two died on the spot, another crippled horribly and---ME.

Dumb shit: stood on the very top rung of a fully extended 40 foot ladder and power washed a STEEP shake roof that began above the second floor of the house. I have a newspaper picture of that.
Had a ladder collapse with me on it carrying a bundle of comp and ended up in the basement of the house.
Another ladder collapsed (two piece wooden ladders) , did a back flip and landed on my feet on a cement deck. Packed up and drove home immediately.

Maybe I should have stayed in that bank job I had for a few minutes!

Hope the new year is a good one for all hippy forumers!!

I guess you work in construction? People in your field seem to always have great crazy WTF how-did-i-not-die stories.

Yeah, it can be exciting, no doubt. A funny one I heard about was a guy fell into a holly bush. The crew tried to pull him up , but he was hollering because of the holly sticking him. They got some ropes, worked them around him and JERKED him up onto the roof. Working Beverly Hills one time, a carpenter was up about 3 stories up on the roof cutting plywood. He was not being careful about the saw dust--we warned him--and after a bit--off he went --dead.
Working on a large project on KauiĆ with about 10 other roofers and there were about 15 carpenters working on setting trusses on an adjacent property. The carpenters went to lunch and as soon as they drove to the beach to eat--ALL the trusses fell with a huge crash!! Probably would have killed some of them had they been up there.
Working in Florida and I was standing back admiring some metal work I did and a carpenter came up (didn't hear him) walked behind me and left SAND behind me and off i went. Landed on sand--got lucky again!
