Haha I know a girl who says her friend ran through a sprinkler with LSD and now hes fucked up and in a mental hospital. She even used that classic quote "It fried his brain"
The only person I know 100% was fucked up by LSD was my dad... but then he took 10 hits of LSD in 70-71 and took some speed with it, and he passed out, and when he woke up he was still tripping out. Well he completely lost it for a few weeks, after 3 days his parents took him to the hospital, because he kept trying to climb out of his window.
They put him in a mental hospital and started giving him daily tranquilizer treatments, after a few days they gave up on that, and brought in a team of doctors to study the psychosis, after 7 weeks they shock treated him out of it.
He's done LSD after that a few times with no problems, it was just a freak accident.
Psychosis is quite real, but quite rare also.

 

hahah my dad still doses all the time but when he was a kid he brought his friend to a festie and this kid took L and didnt get off so he kept taking more and more and finaly all of it hit him and he flipped out the next day he had to go to the hospital and his parents got the entire festival shutdown. There was an entertaining LSD story in the early 70's about a dude who flipped-out on acid and hid in the closet, because if anyone touched him, he would turn into orange juice! TOMMY JAMES & THE SHONDELLS even wrote a song entitled: I AM A TANGERINE (from their CRIMSON & CLOVER album), although it is not specifically about this orange-into-orange juice LSD story, it is an old 60's psychedelic song.

ROKY ERIKSON (from the 13th Floor Elevators/1st psychedlic album ever) and PINK FLOYD members suffered from LSD-induced psychosis for awhile and had to be institutionallized. It happens. There are some real-life examples of LSD-induced psychosis, but not as many as the Main Stream Media and Urban Legends will have you believe. I know of two old neighbor boys (who I used to play with in my childhood) who flipped-out on LSD for quite awhile, but not many. However, if you're psychotic before you took the LSD, well, it just amplifies what's there, or can reveal a hidden psychosis, and bring it to the surface. The LSD just reveals what's in your head and really doesn't cause it. "Nuff said.

P.S. - nismo. The PINEAL gland is a "pine cone-shaped" body in the brain and is sometimes referred to as "the third-eye", because it contains color-rods like in your eye retina. It IS possible to overdose on LSD, but the the dose is very high, usually not availalbe in that large quantities on the street and you would really have to swallow (or accidently ingest) a vial of concentrated LSD. An expertiment was done with an elephant, where they gave it a 120,000 umgs. dose of LSD and it died. 12,000 ugms. may not be enough to OD on.

It's easier to OD on water, than LSD. YES you CAN OD on water (by drinking)! Your cells literally drown! I don't know how much water it would take to "drown" yourself, but you would really have to make an effort to do it, by drinking alot of water, very fast. It's very rare. You usually die from a lack of water ("dehydration"), which causes a heart attack. Even rarer is true LSD overdoses. I, personally, don't know of any LSD OD's.

The safest drugs are the ones where there is a wide gap between the active dose (therapeutic and/or psycho-active dose) and the OVERDOSE dose. It takes only 10 ugms. - 500 ugms. for LSD to work. Over 500 ugms., you can't really get any higher (according to some research). Of course, the amount to OD is very far away (120,000 ugms.?). A too high dose of LSD seems to have a slight poisonous effect, where you're more "whacked-out", than in a more structured "tripping" situation. It seems to "overload" the brain temporarily.

Narcotic drugs (opiates, tranquilizers and sleeping pills) are very dangerous, because the dose to "catch a buzz" is too close to the overdose dose, which usually causes "respiratory arrest" (i.e. you stop breathing). Marijuana has a unique chemistry, where it doesn't cause "respiratory arrest", so it is not very toxic and OD's are pretty much non-existent. Pot OD's? I never heard of one. Have you?

In the early 70's, I knew a high school friend who took 40 hits of acid, and had "a big party in the sky". He lived, and didn't flip out. Teens in the 70's really would take 20-40 hits of acid, but not all the time. It's called "experimenting with drugs". 40 hits of LSD is not even close to a physical overdose on LSD. I never took that high of dose, but many did.

The LD-50 for a mouse is proportionally higher than the LD-50 for an elephant. I would trust research done on a rat more than either of those two, but in reality you can only extrapolate values and guess at what the LD-50 might be.

I was able to find only one case where LSD toxicity had been attributed as the cause of death, and even then they weren't totally sure that's what killed the guy. He ate upwards of 200,000 mics, if I remember correctly, but I could be wrong. I'll check later.
