When a new company has recruiters lie to you to get you here, they pay for pretty nice rooms, your food, your way here and even money while you go thru the process. Why? it seems a waste to spend all that money just to let everyone find out they were fed a line of shit to start with, damn shame waste of money. Hotel is $70 a nightx3 food is about $25 a day, pay to get here $100 and $100 a day to listen so they loose about $600.00 per person, seems dumb and that dont count the cost for the doctors DOT physical and drug screens and background checks.
i used to love going to such things, although mine weren't really for a new job but to sit n listen to the drug companies bout there wonder drugs n advancements.... twas great,,,,, free food(good shit too,,,) , free travel, a couple days off from real work paid to be there n i loved to fuck with their minds..
irresponsibility is a currently dominant cultural norm. if they want you to piss in a bucket so they can stick a piece of litmus paper in your piss, yes it's pretty off the wall that you should have to pay for the privelage after they go through all that promotional mumbo jumbo. you can bet somewhere some bean counter or economics proffessor through whatever rube golberg permutations came to and taught the conclusion that they somehow come out ahead by pulling this kind of stunt. such are the distortions of measuring value by the circulation of symbols of it. =^^= .../\...
