Except that the reports are of those guns being used to shoot at people trying to carry out rescue operations (thereby keeping them in those miserable conditions for longer, as rescuers postpone operations until their people can have a reasonable expectation of safety) and in rapes.

Sure, there probably are some cases of people using guns to protect themselves. If my family were there, my dad and brother sure as hell would have guns to protect me from being raped. But those aren't the people HH was talking about (least not the way I read his post). It's the bastards raping and committing senseless violence (which we could argue affects thousands of victims who are stuck there longer because of the delay in rescue operations) that need to get the shit beat out of them daily for a few years at least.

 

i'd prolly loot some pawn shops if i was there, grab some gems and fiddles. i wouldnt be ablt ot loot someones house.

It's complete anarchy down there. This dwarfs 9/11 IMO. Part of the US was just turned into a 3rd world country. Here in Houston, you can see refugees all over the place. I can hardly believe what's happening.

 

i just think that one of the major reasons we were so terribly unprepared is that no one EVER expects this to happen in the usa. there's a latent arrogance that says "that doesn't happen to americans." but it does. it has before, it will again. we're totally prepared to react and aid situations overseas, because shit like that happens overseas. but we're never really prepared to deal with it here, neither physically nor psychologically.

 

Our infrastructure is rotting..our jobs are dissappearing..no wonder you hear how great everything is here a little more these days
