Looking for more modern Psychedelic bands (PS Tame Impala RULES)

Recently came across a band from Australia called "Tame Impala". Theyre one of my fav bands now, theyre fucking amazing. I highly advise you to go check em out.

The vocals are kinda lennonesque, and the band is very modern-- formed in 2007, and touring the west coast of north america this spring. I listen to alot of old acid rock, so its cool to hear new modern stuff that is just as trippy. They bring alot of cool modern sound effects and modern recording methods that sting of crispness. Currently orderring their first album on vinyl (came out last year also).

So, Im looking for good modern acidy music. Preferably more rockish than dance. Im pretty open minded tho, so shoot.

If your interested, search Tame impala on youtube, i think all of their material is up there. They dont really have any bad songs, but id have to say "41 mosquitoes flying in formation" is up there o my favs list.

definitely check out Neon Indian. colorful, unique and pretty good. if you liked the cool modern effects of tame impala, youre in for a real surprise haha.

or Toro Y Moi. they've got some attention since their sophomore album. the songs Blessa, New Beat, How I Know, and Still Sound are really good.

:2thumbsup: I try only to post stuff I really dig myself. Lots of modern psych bands around I don't like, I let those to be recommended by people who dig them The fact that I can be very selective in this proves there's lots of psych bands these days. Ought to be a couple of good ones for everyone.

Orange Sunshine is a great band as well. Ah well, I ment fucking awesome band!

 

I know the OP said they preferred psychedelic rock to psychedelic dance, but does anyone have any suggestions that are a little more upbeat than what has already been posted? Something more along the lines of MGMT or Passion Pit, something that will make me get up and do the robot

I edited the second post as well. I fully understand, I like lots of stuff but when I'm in for instance a reggae dub mood and someone sends me a perhaps great psych rock track to check out I sometimes don't even wanna listen to it (at that time) because I'm stuck in my reggae dub mood
