Look Out For Number One.

    Some people think the expression "look out for number one" is always wrong. No, you should always consider your own interests first. But then you should help out your neighbor and then fellow man.

    Look out for number one is the full saying. But the rest is implied.

    Bacteria look out for number one, but the only reason they can even do that, is because they reproduce.

    But WHY do bacteria reproduce. Do they get as much pleasure out of it as we do? If so, it means they are looking out for number one. Especially since they're just cloning themselves. They don't usually have sex. However....

    It's been discovered that bacteria do exchange genetic information through a process of "bacterial conjugation". More info on that here.

    But do they really care if the other bacteria enjoyed themselves?

    Bacteria organize according to quorum sensing, meaning they have strict union rules, and their lawyers all advise them to never discuss reproduction, with strange men in particular.
