2 miles or so each day, feeling the cool ground with my soles, avoiding the OUCHY acorns this time of year in the North American Northeast, and getting the exercise I need in the funnest (?) way possible. I love going barefoot; may as well put it to good use. Now where’s my damn Fitbit? I know where my fat butt is...
Those "ouchy" acorns are a problem here in the Missouri Ozarks, too. Not only do we have the limestone chips and pointy chunks of rock but now add the acorns and hickory nuts, walnuts and perhaps others that don't come to mind right now. They are all plentiful this year due to all the rainfall we've had this year. The oak acorns are tending to be small so far. I don't expect them to grow too much this late in the year, though. I used to live in northern Illinois where there was lots of good DIRT to hike on but here it's really tough going. Probably my longest outdoor barefoot hike in the last 12 months was tracking my deer last fall and that was only 150 yards or so. Spring time is usually the best around here. Summer can be really though when the ground is almost like concrete.
