Now.. I read this earlier today. At first I was like.. ooh, serious!. Then I thought, actually... it'll probably be an improvement to the culture. Sure there are little kinks to be ironed out, like the whole male superiority thing, and the way the laws are enforced and all that.. but anyway, the point of this thread wasn't to voice what i think about the whole thing... it was more to just say LOL!!!!!!

I've never understood why people think that oppression and threat are something that a person would want to flock too, I just don't fucking get it.

 

People who do might not necessarily see it as oppression themselves. It is strange sometimes how people can perceive society so different all depending on their own associations. On the other hand, it's also very logical once you realize from what a different society or cultural background some did come from.

 

I agree. I think to some people, oppression is actually freedom. By that I mean that in giving up your freedom to make your own choices, you are also shedding the responsibility of any choices. To some people that might be a peaceful and easy way of life. Think of how carefree you were as a child unburdened by decisions. You simply did what you were told to do (most of the time) and didn't have the mental stress of trying to figure out what was the right thing to do in every situation.

I myself don't wish to live that type of life, but I can understand that a person could be comfortable with that type of life - as long as they don't care about having little freedom.

A massive oversimplification. By the way, the guy with the red beard in the article of the OP seems not to be from a different country at all. Perhaps he seems to think your country is already the joke you think the whole middle east must be? To be clear I don't agree with such an idea in any way. Converting to islam is a private matter I would think, declaring sharia law in your neighbourhood naturally isn't.

('declaring' and it 'being' - two different things)

The website says Sharia law zones have ‘momentous’ support from Muslim businessmen, lawyers and community leaders, who are ‘sickened by the alcohol, pornography and downright secular culture of Britain’.

'Muslims Against Crusades' seems to be no more (no more website)

It seems as if they sprang up back then and thankfully died a death...
So much for their ‘momentous’ support.
