The Scottish Government says it support the plan to increase immigration if Scotland becomes independent to help boost the economy and support a rapidly ageing population. You do have an aging population, like everywhere else You also have a birth rate which is not talked about. You also have a population entering the work force which is not talked about. I do not live there and not looking to argue, There is simply a lot of Things to consider in independence. Scotland will have to take A portion of the debt of Britain. 15 percent of Edinburgh is immigrants. 15 percent of Glasgow is immigrants. Aberdeen 16 percent 79 percent of Scotland DOES NOT want an increase in immigration Yet the Scottish government does not agree and wants to double The number of immigrants in Scotland. You will still have a government Who doesn't listen to the Scottish people. You might get what you want There will be a disappointed majority people disregarded by the govt and a divided country.
We wont. I think everyone is on edge at the moment, all over the world, for different reasons. We all need to take a step out of the reality and have a look inside the heart of the problem. I don't need anyone bitching at me ever, least not now when I'm currently being metaphorically "spread wide" by farm animals. I remember when 7/7 happened, I was in Holland. I went out and got drunk and stoned and broke down in tears in front of everyone at the end of the night, because I hadn't heard from a friend who I knew lived in London. The problem is this is going to feed more into the divide and hatred among us, especially between Muslims and the rest of the world, and it breaks my heart. Meanwhile, Theresa May is still licking Donald's nuts or at least we can assume that's the position of the UK until further notice or revolution.
I moved this thread from Latest News to the UK section so a broader discussion can be had. Just mind your manners, please.
It's difficult to know where to post things sometimes, I guess it's a UK thing. I'd like the rest of the world to be able to feel that they can talk about it freely, so maybe Morrow was right to make two threads. It's hard to know where to draw the line between divisions. It is what it is though, and we all work things out in the end if we can just talk about it freely?
There were 11 different countries caught up in that attack! Just shows what a great place London is i guess! https://www.mix96.co.uk/news/national/2253194/westminster-attack-people-from-11-countries-injured-in-london-terror/
Brits are very much a minority on HF. Always been that way. Americans are more focused on America generally, and at present they have the Trump creature to occupy their attention. It's only if something big happens like the Brexit vote, or this attack, that most American members here post on threads about UK stuff. Sometimes they try to introduce their own issues like gun ownership which are irrelevant to us. Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against Americans. It's just the way things are. And it's not across the board. And although I'm interested in America and keep abreast of the main news from there, a huge amount goes on of which I am totally unaware. I've actually learned quite a lot reading posts of members here which fills out the picture a little. Inevitably we see the world through slightly different lenses. Anyway let's carry on talking freely.
London is a great place, but I prefer Reading or Manchester. Just because I was there. London is too big and too expensive. Been to a a few good shamanic trance nights in London (and Manchester) Return to the Source used to hold alnightters in Brixton. The black doormen were the best, so not taking advantage of the colour of their skin. Go To Camden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ2X9SANsME
Only one time, for the opening of the club L2 19978? It was at night, got taken there by minibus. Drinks, hanging about, I saw Tinhead's bird in there or the actress. That's the only time I ever went to Liverpool. I've been to Wales loads of times, Mold, Snowdonia, the black forest, illegal hippie forest farm festivals in the early 2000. I also lived in Great Malvern and once met Mick Fleetwood in a pub there. Beautiful place, I love the west midlands and their beer festivals.
Update.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/24/pictured-moment-terrorist-khalid-masood-shot-westminster-attack/
I haven't been to Liverpool since the 80's. Just after the famous Toxteth riots. Had to drive through Toxteth, and kids were pelting the car with pebbles. Expect it's changed massively since then. Everywhere has. Used to go up there in the late 70's when I worked for an antique dealer who used to buy stuff at auctions in the city. I spend a bit of time in Malvern, as I have family there. Also a few friends in that area. Really nice place. Shropshire is my home turf. A nice rural county mostly. I lived in Wales for a time, near Welshpool. Maybe one day I'll go back as I prefer it in some ways to where I live now. My ex wife was a Welsh girl.
See it's a small country really, ma daughter lived in Malvern, now lives in Shropshire! How very strange!
Just got an email from the West Midlands Green Party - won a seat on Herefordshire Council. 41% of the vote. 318 votes to the tories 139. OK - it's only a council election, but imagine if it could be repeated nationally. And Hereford is a conservative farming county if ever one was. From small acorns.......
Coincidences are really interesting to me for some reason. But yes, it's a small country. Twice it's happened to me, once in London, once in Birmingham, that I've literally run into people I know from my home town by chance in the street. The odds against that must be really high. And both times, it's been to my advantage, both times people I hadn't seen for years. I reckon that if we were to go back in time far enough, we'd probably find we're all distant relatives.
Peace and love to my brothers and sisters around the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSScV6Rt_6s
Especially if you have Welsh roots! I'm just glad all the ones i found, are dead, imagine the Christmas card list! I go back to 930, that's a lot of people!
