Don't the vast majority of countries have different shades of gray regarding economic models? I've known this for a long time. I disagree with the predominant socialist models available, whereas you wish death upon the predominantly free-market models.

Do mean that you now realize your Bob analogy isn't working?

How did you come up with this? You do realize there's slander and libel laws towards individuals that aren't protected by freedom of speech.

There's a good reason why this journalist resigned after writing that the recent shooter wore a MAGA hat Reporter quits after saying Annapolis shooter wore MAGA hat

No, it's not"just like" saying that at all, unless Trump has assumed godlike sacred status to his followers akin to Allah. Protesting Trump conveys a message with some intellectual content, and is therefore protected expressive conduct. Freedom to prank the Muslims has limited social value, and if it risks violence, can be restricted.

Who "the hell" said it is? When the response is or is likely to be a punch in the nose, the line has been crossed and fighting words are involved.

No, she isn't. She's trying to burn the bridge down. She knows it, you know it, and most importantly, the British authorities know it. So who do you think you're fooling?

"The Left" isn't pushing for open borders. Trump just likes to say that his Democrat opponents are, as a means of ginning up the base. In fact, I thought open borders was a libertarian idea. Isn't that what you're supposed to be? Some left of center people are in favor of it, but not the Bern. Bernie Sanders, no right winger, says it's “a Koch Brothers proposal,” a “right-wing proposal”. “What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. I don’t believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country, I think we have to do everything we can to create millions of jobs." “Open Borders”: A Gimmick, Not a Solution - Bernie Sanders The Left" isn't keeping Lauren out. The British authorities are. No country needs to open its borders to known rabble rousers.

Well there is a rise in crime that correlates to the rise in mass immigration. There's also that inconvenient truth that not all these new comers are refugees of war, but are instead economic migrants from nations at peace. Some come with no skills to offer, and are in it for the government provided benefits like welfare and housing.

If they come to a country with no desire to assimilate, no desire to learn the language, no desire respect the national culture, and don't offer skills to better themselves and that society, then they probably don't belong there.

As I said, I'm all in favor of skilled immigration and internationalism. But when you over-saturate a native population with a non native population, the cultural dynamic can permanently change.

Islam welcomes a very authoritarian approach to governance, which is why I think many globalist world leaders are very eager to saturate their country's population with one that is most likely going to vote for left wing causes, and be in favor of more authoritarian laws.

I'm going to keep on criticizing islam until the left realizes it's the most right-wing philosophy of governing a society.

You are. You keep saying the same thing: if it offends muslims in a muslim area, or if it offends christians in the bible belt area.

Although I don't do this anymore, I've been in religious arguments with Christians before, many years ago. Admittedly I've been untactful and rude with my arguments by telling them that there is no god, the Bible is bullshit, and life evolved on the earth for millions of years. Does that give them justification to throw a punch at me? I mean, if a Muslim assaults someone for saying bad things about his god and his prophet, then it's most likely a personal problem. For the record, the arguments with Christians never got physical; they just said that hell awaits me, but there's still time to redeem.

Every religion has had its idols mocked. Some have learned to roll with the punches, but Islam for the most part lags behind.

Being offended, isn't grounds for silencing the person offending you.

But there are democrats in favor of abolishing ICE. My ex-congressman is one It’s time we abolish ICE – Earl Blumenauer – Medium

Then you have unhinged professors doxxing ICE agents through their LinkedIn pages, and handing that info to Antifa The Person Doxxing ICE Employees Is A Professor At NYU

And yes, I think you won't have any trouble finding images of Open Borders protest signs from PussyHat or Antifa marches.

Some libertarians do believe in open borders. My father is one. I disagree with him though. I wish we could live in a perfect world where borders aren't needed, but we need them.

Your assertion that immigration causes crime runs counter to research showing that immigrants, at least in the United States, tend to be less crime prone than natives or have no effect on the crime rate. Immigration and Crime – What the Research Says By the Numbers: Does Immigration Cause Crime? | Alex Nowrasteh Immigrants Do Not Increase Crime, Research Shows https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/03/3 html How does immigration affect crime? Bianchi et al (2012) found a similar pattern for Italy.Journal of the European Economic Association, vol. 10:1318-47 The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention has conducted two studies into the representation of people from foreign backgrounds among crime suspects, the most recent in 2005. The studies show that the majority of those suspected of crimes were born in Sweden to two Swedish-born parents. The studies also show that the vast majority of people from foreign backgrounds are not suspected of any crimes.Facts about migration, integration and crime in Sweden A study by the London School of Economics found that there was “no causal impact of immigration on crime…contrary to the ‘immigration causes crime’ populist view expressed in some media and political debate”.Crime and immigration: evidence from large immigrant waves - LSE Research Online So what are you talking about?

I tend to agree. But I think we need to distinguish between immigrants trying to get in and those already here. The ones already here have to be assimilated effectively, not treated as pariahs--assuming we're not talking about a ship 'em back policy for legal immigrants and asylum refugees.

You think "globalists' are authoritarian? I don't think so. I think it is the Trumpists and the Alt Right populist nationalists--the anti-immigrant crew--who are the scariest authoritarians. And ight wing industrialists like the Koch brothers are happy to let immigrants of all stripes in to drive down wages.

And we know how really concerned you are about helping "the Left" realize that right wing philosophy is authoritarian. Haven't you also been trying to convince us that the "hard left" is fascist? Do you see some incoherence in your views? Senegal, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Maldives are relatively democratic countries. When you say Islam is authoritarian and conservative, I'd tend to agree. I think the same could be said about Catholicism in my neck of the woods--although far less so than it used to be. And those Evangelicals--watch out for them! But it takes all kinds. I attend services at our local mosque (also Catholic Bible study) because I value aspects of both religions, and can take what I want and leave the rest. I'm also in a free thinkers group to keep perspective

Not quite. "Offending" per se isn't the problem. It's the combination of (1) calculated offensiveness--being offensive for the sake of being offensive; (2) absence of serious expository content ("no essential part of any exposition of ideas, and are of such slight social value as a step to truth that any benefit that may be derived from them is clearly outweighed by the social interest in order and morality") + (3) likely to provoke violence.

Know your audience. As acknowledged, conservative Muslims tend to be touchy on the subject of blasphemy. What you're talking about isn't quite that, because you're making serious arguments. If you told a Christian "Jesus sucks dick", that might be more comparable, although I and most Christians I know would still be more likely to pray for the salvation of your soul. Back in the day, we might have been more physical. Our greater "maturity" is a result of centuries of religious warfare during which we came to value peace over slugging it out. As they say in the law, you take your victims as you find them. If a person has a known propensity to go beserk if you say anything negative about his mother, and you do it just to get a rise, that's not something government officials have to respect as an exercise of free speech. "Allah is gay", said to a Muslim audience, is in that category.

Sure, but they aren't "the Left"--just different segments of it with different opinions. I don't favor abolishing ICE, just reforming it. Doxxing is a dangerous practice, The assistant professor should bear full responsibility for any harm resulting from his doxxing.

Oh please read the posts and engage with what’s said rather than try to do silly point scoring.

I’m pointing out that even in your own viewpoint free speech and freedom of assembly can be curtailed.

It again comes back to absolutist thinking

Thank you, that was exactly the point I was making, did you really not see the trap?

Yes there are things not protected by freedom of speech, freedom of speech is not an absolute right and can be restrained.

So to come back to what I was warning – stop thinking in terms of simplistic slogans and try to think a bit about what you are saying and see that reality is a lot more complex.

Well could you please use this supposed knowledge in your posts, because I have not noticed it although many have commented on you black and white views on many issues.

I mean you don’t seem to have much depth of knowledge on differing ‘economic models’ you’ve admitted you base most of your social and economic thinking on a sci-fi novel by Ayn Rand and a few articles by the wealth sponsored Cato Institute. When you have tried to your viewpoint on differing economic views it has lacked depth, you don’t like ‘socialism’ because you blame it for not getting a blue ribbon at a science fair when your sister got one. On the other side your views on the ‘free market’ seem to be based on the deeply flawed concept of Social Darwinism.

And again you seem to thinking in black and white terms socialist models bad, free-market models good.

I have and can explain why I think neo-liberal economics are not very good and can be even dangerous and how I prefer Keynesian models, I’ve written many post here on the subject. What we have mainly got from you about socialism are slurs and you bitching about getting a green ribbon.

I have suggested some books to you maybe you should read them?

    So you would do what?

Force them to assimilate (resistance is futile) as the Spanish Christian kingdoms did with the ‘moors’ and Jews in renaissance Spain (no-one expects the Spanish inquisition)?

The Spanish also deported many of those that didn’t comply with the assimilation process or where thought not to be working hard enough at it.

So let’s see - someone is born in the UK and is a law abiding citizen, how far do they have to go to be seen as been or trying to be assimilated and who decides on what is the right level of assimilation?

We have a citizen test for newcomers that as many have pointed out wouldn’t be passed by many of those that already have citizenship – if this was used and they failed this ‘assimilation’ test would they also have to leave the country?

Again I don’t believe you give ideas that much though it’s all led by your own prejudices and a desire to spread division.

toroto murder rate just surpassed the new York murder rate also....tbf I am guessing there is a massive list of cities with more murders per capita than new York....it is a misleading statistic....but by the looks of this last page you guys dont care to discuss that?

    OK to recap

London has been rapidly replacing its native population as the murder rate rises. How can this be? It’s as if the people who are arriving in mass, are more violent than the natives. Who would’ve seen this coming?

As established the NY – London comparison didn’t stand up and was dismissed early on and really wasn’t important, the main thrust of the PO was about immigration and about certain immigration.

    · 6 believes that ‘natives’ are those that can trace their ancestry back at least 100 years before the arrival of the more diverse ethnical groups of immigrants (those from the Indian sub-continent and those of a black African origin).

    · He believes these ‘new’ arrivals are ‘more violent than the natives’ and the cause of a rise in murders (although violent crime and murder rates have declined over the last half century).

    · 6 has singled out Muslims particularly as the main culprits of this violence although that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

    · He seems to imply that he would remove any ‘new arrivals’ he deemed as not been assimilated enough presumably by force if they didn’t want to go.

Certainly not. It would be too "on topic". The good news is that the homicide rate and overall violent crime rate in New York city are so low, compared to other major cities and its own past records. Unlike my home state of Oklahoma (469.3 violent crimes per 100,000 people), New York state doesn't even make the top ten anymore. Besides Tulsa and Oklahoma City, there's Muskogee with a population of 39,472, with one murder, 23 forcible rapes, 36 robberies, and 519 aggravated assaults in 2014. Those familiar with Merle Haggard's sixties song "Okie from Muskogee' might savor the irony. .
    "We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
We don't take no trips on LSD
    We don't burn no draft cards down on Main Street;
We like livin' right, and bein' free.

I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all

To bring it up to date, I might add "We don't have no Muslims in Muskogee. A place where even squares can get a hit",
of opiods and meth. Trump country baby! Makin' 'Merca great again! In 2013 just under two-thirds of the births in the city were to unwed mothers.
