have none of you seen that it wasn't only the dispossessed??? yes there was rioting and people got caught up in it... people here a mad as fuck about POLICE ATTITUDE... that was the flash point and it was the orig reason for the riots... it just got out of hand due to the overspill of anger and resentment...

 

Thanks for that comment Lill! The press are not really interested in the original reasons for what started out as a peaceful demonstration. That doesn't sell newspapers. Give them a good riot with looting and they're quids in! They are doing the cop's pr for them! It makes me sick!

Yes, lill, I have seen that is not just the dispossessed. I'm just sick of the fact that peope can't seem to understand that everybody does not think the same way, does not know the same things as everyone else and were never taught the same things in life as everyone else. So when people are saying things beginning with "they should" etc they should really do a lot more thinking before opening their mouths.

 

There's still people peacefully protesting across the country against the "cuts". There will probably be more violent, riotous action than before, though.

 

It sounds like a revolution.

 

hope not Skip, but this society is so fragmented, it's hard to see how people can get together and agree priorities... the peaceful demonstrations get hijacked by others intent on violence and disruption and/or the Police do something that either provokes that kind of reaction from the less able to keep it together, or the protest is moved on... or the protesters suffer...

Brian Haw (much respect) was the only permanent peaceful protester and has been doing just that, right outside Parliament for many years... he sadly passed away in June this year... the campaign goes on... and so does the Police harassment and ILLEGAL activity on behalf of Parliament etc...

Funny there was no riots here in Pgh Pa USA, yet 2 innocent bystanders were shot over night in 2 different incidents.. See The news site is screwed up and I dont feel like researching it. I just find it funny that The UK riot is going to over shadow all other life taken for the next 3 months all over the Globe.. I think UK's should get over it..

Orison makes a great point. I heard on the news today of a couple of fatal car accidents and I immediately thought "Well, that's just as many people killed because of lack of attention on the road than in 4 nights of rioting"... Strange old world.

 

The poor cant get any poorer.. Going to jail fro rioting is a god sent to some people. I see people here living in the state do all they can do to get back in jail. Not even a week out on parole and back to the big house to be with friends and family. Its actually kinda sickening due to the fact the motherfuckers have a better life that many people outside the walls.

dont pay for housing

dont pay for electric
dont pay for toilet paper
dont pay for laundry service
dont pay for NOTHING.. They are not even paying for the crimes they committed living in a run down hotel with modern conveniences. Like cable TV..

try flushing your toilet at home all day 100times and see what the bill is. They can do it for fun just to flood out a housing unit..

How come there was no rioting inside any the prison facilities? Maybe dont want to loss the best home they got.

Prison riots across the country would shack things up a bit. But remember they like living there and wouldnt do anything to ruin it...

It's not the riots that concern me, but the aftermath... been watching how the media/politicians/law enforcement services have been handling this one on a day to day basis... it is obvious to me and to all who have witnessed it, that the police get away with murder and abuse of PEOPLE and the rioters/looters are being hung out to dry because they destroyed PROPERTY... man that is fucked up... seems we can't protest peacefully or violently!... if it wasn't so serious i think i would laugh... actually, i could laugh, but it would be one of those laughs that doesn't sound like it is coming from a sane person... :dizzy2:

 

i wasn't sure how to respond to your post orison, because i wasn't quite sure what you meant by it... are you saying the uk's should get over the riots or, that we should get over police brutality, harassment, corruption and lies? maybe you mean something else...?

They do not have that right and never did. Their job is to serve the community, not drive around in an air conditioned car picking on teenagers and young adults cause they can.
When they get a brick tossed thru the windows, who cares. They dont own the car. Its more likely the kid tossing the bricks has served his community more that any old pig. And you all might say how troubling the kids are around you. Have you ever offered them something to do beside tell them "hang out somewhere else??"

I dont see piggies cutting the grass, picking up liter, helping elderly with their heavy bags to the cars. I seen pigs in a snow storm drive past a 72 yr old women in knee deep snow in distress. They could of tried to stop and help her. They did not./ They went to check on their mother with county paid cars Im sure. You know who helped that old women ? I did. I think the whole point has been arrests.

It's part of britans police state scheme, similar to the US one, but this riot thing is like steroids for it. You get everyone you don't like to do something criminal, slap them with a criminal record, and then you can use the fact that you, yourself, set them up with a record to discredit them so that they can never get anywhere, even when they out number you. Just like pot. "you smoke pot, so the fact that you know that pot's harmless has no value!"

I think the police did well to prevent things getting even more out of hand. Destruction of property is one thing rivers of blood in the streets quite another.

You could view rioting as collective of herd phenomenon akin to what Emile Durkheim would call a social current. This may go someway to explaining the seeming randomness, irrationality and senselessness of it all to outside observers. One can see these processes at work in other collective settings as well such as financial markets every now and again. The later of course can and does destabilize whole economies all the time.
