It's becoming increasingly difficult to discern men from women, and then there's the ones who choose to "identify" as something they're not. Taken to logical conclusion, there'll be one big locker room with privacy stalls and curtained showers.

I joined a gym at the age of 22 and the first time I showered after workout I found that it was an all open Male shower, say about 12 heads. I'm small soft so was so nervous dropping my towel. I got in there and I could not stop glancing at the other guys penises. It became something I looked forward to and definitely motivated me to gym more, lol. But these days it's all single cubicles. Shame.

Generally men at the locker room and showers of the gym I go to in Tucson are not uptight about being naked, no matter what their body type may be. It's nice to have a relaxed situation like that. where men don't have to be obsessive about covering up before they can even talk to each other.

I much prefer the locker rooms in the movies.

    Hehe
Yeah that way we're limited to their descriptions of the smell rather than enduring it.

I thought the UK was more accepting of nudity the the western countries..? I'm I wrong then?
I'm in the US, so I really don't know from experience. I'm just going by what I've heard over the years..

I've changed gyms a few times over the years, I can't say when it really began but as the years went by, I never really saw a change in anyone's lockerroom behavior. What I did notice was gradually there were small changes that went into place such as private shower stalls, changing booths in the lockerrooms...
But yet some guys including myself still walk naked in the lockerroom and openly change at my locker and not use the booth, and I've never gotten a dirty look or anything said to me.. It doesn't seem like anyone there cares one way or another. Yet these changes went into effect..

people don't really "care" that much, but in my experience most people under about 60 do find it a little weird how you older guys like to flaunt your junk around. nobody's likely to do or say anything about it, but the younger generations do tend to laugh about it between themselves.

Was "you older guys" directed at me...? I'm 34.... I'm not talking about people who flaunt their junk around, I'm only taking about the people who go in, do what they need to do, and leave. Not the guys just killing time in the lockerroom..

Once upon a time ago when I played Sports, at the end of a game (Football/Soccer) the Shower room was a two functional area.
    1. To get clean (wipe the sweat away, Remove the mud)
    2. To wind down - the shampoo trick for any newbies was always a laugh
It was neither an area of shame or arousal
TV/Movies (/\) and the easy access to Pornography in recent times seems to have put a different slant on things,
In a time when Nudity is viewed moreover with caution, then acceptance it seems these areas have become a lot more PC and 'the shame of Eve' more prevalent - for both sexes

The exception to this however is a degree of a double standard.
Recently I took my Grandson swimming and in the (male) shower/changing room afterwards there were Dads with daughters, not within an individual cubicle but in a communal, stripping off to be dried (girls aged 10/under)
It did strike me as odd, - for I wouldn't had done so with my Granddaughter, but then I thought, why not?
The reality was that 'things have changed' the innocence of simple action now is guarded with a fear of what others may view as perverse - and how sad is that?!?

sorry, when you talked about the changes you've seen over the years i took that to mean that you've spent more years in locker rooms than you actually have.

You are kidding. The UK is probably the most prudish place on planet earth. Stiff upper lip and all that. ☺

Nahhh, older men at my gym's locker room don't "flaunt" their junk. They're just OK with their bodies, and don't care what anyone else thinks about them, including the "younger generations" who might be more conditioned by mass media to be uptight about nudity and to judge body images.

In the same way that women have had to fight this body shaming, men deal with the same thing. Many older men from the hippy era don't give a damn about it, and their younger counterparts might benefit from freeing themselves, also.

Never thought much about it. My clean clothes were in the locker so I just stripped down and put the sweaty ones in a bag and walked naked to the steam room and then had a shower. Towels were on a table outside the showers. Dried off, deposited towel in bin, got dressed and left. As did most of the men. If anyone laughed at my saggy ass, I did not hear them nor did I care. That was in an upscale gym.

Years later, after I discovered my bisexuality, things were different at a "cruisey" YMCA. The steam room was a lot more fun there.
