Middle of a cow pasture (for now), couple three miles from the beer store, 'bout 12 or 15 mi from town. If I'm going to be this far in the country, I want trees. And a better local beer store. Hate it here.
crazy, i was thinking of making this same thread the other day i live in a town of 5,000, about 30 min from a town of 50,000 that doesn't feel as "out there" as i'd like.. but i am surrounded by farmland which is cool
i live in rochester, NY (googled the population to be about 222,000 making it the 3rd most populous state in NY) i don't really live downtown, so my area isn't that city-ish. i'm a one mile bike ride from my school. two blocks from a great park. which is nice, because.. i'm from a small town called cuba, ny. population of about 2,000. it's in allegany county which i believe is the poorest county in ny. http://www.city-data.com/city/Cuba-New-York.html ^^^more poor stats it was boring growing up there, but i loved it. i lived 6 miles out of the town, on a private dirt road in the woods with closes neighbor 1/4 mile away. obviously there are pros and cons to each situation. i don't see how it's safer to cycle in the city though. people fuckin hate bicyclists where ever i go. but in my small town there were less cars to battle. in the city people honk at me almost daily - i love flipping them off
I live in a sprawling suburban metropolis. Toronto's backyard. I LOVE it here. Right between the big city and the rugged country, with access to everything.
What? Why not? It's gonna be huge. Council of Canadians, OxFam, Greenpeace, Canadian Federation of Labour, Canadian Labour of Congress and everyone else is going to be there! I am facing the reality that I cannot make it. I am in Chicoutimi right now, and have 4 family members staying with me during that week. :'(
I live in a town of just under 30,000... to one side is the bluffs.. and to the other side is the Mississippi.. actually I live 2 blocks from the sippi... It's an alright town.. doesn't have everything.. but what's not here can be obtained in a 30-45min drive to one of the other bigger cities... 2hrs away from Minneapolis/St. Paul.. It's a college town.. boasting 3 colleges.. It shows.. high rent.. and tons of bars and fast food.. the most disappointing thing about this town is the lack of good dining.. Good variety of Chinese restaurants.. otherwise everything is fast food.. family dining(Perkins, Ground Round) or Bar & Grill.. it's really sad.... Overall I like the area.. I'm surrounded by nature.. and that sure beats being surrounded by skyscrapers
I live in the suburbs... But not the rich white people suburbs, like, the crappy suburbs right next to the ghetto. It's ok... It would suck if I didn't live right next to a bunch of paths and trails along the mississippi.
The details are in my signature. Or you can facebook search 'G20' and find the full details. You gonna go? It's gonna be HUGE
minneapolis seemed like a pretty cool place when i visited. this place, not so much but it has its pros and cons. i'm not exactly a fan of suburbia or republican dominated areas, so yeah...
i have ear sensitivity issues. if some asshole ever decides a nonviolent protest needs to be broken up at the expense of seriously jeopardizing my hearing, that fucker is gonna be in court! not that i'm one to attend protests or anything.
meh.. I lived in Little Canada for awhile.. which is a suburb of the twin cities.. actually its right above North St. Paul.. I didn't care for it at all.. gimme small the small city life.. where i am at is not quite country.. yet not quite city.. its a nice mix
it can damage hearing even for people who aren't sensitive. so yeah it could be bad for you i've been to a few protests but nothing on the scale of g20.. i don't have the balls to attend something like that unless it's a full blown american revolution. all in or nothing. haha
I always bring noise makers at a rally. It's a given that there is going to be noise, you may be right beside a speaker, etc. It's always best to bring a pair of earplugs.
