window regulators are fairly cheap at rockauto if its the motors...but if they all went wonky at same time check the wires or switch

broken wires most common problem is in the driver door jam up front where they pass from body to the door..one bad wire could kill all the windows

if its wires or switch they could be brought up by removing door panel and simply using jumper wires from battery on the motors and then leaving them unplugged so no one accidently lowers them....they are fool proof positive and negative one way will go up and reverse them to go down

tensioners are also cheap and easy to replace


my experience with stalling cherokee/grand cherokee is to first check the trans fluid level...i have no idea why by they are super sensitive about the fill level being exact or they do funky noises and random stalls

 

possibly the hottest stickiest day of the year and this idiot calls for me to "check his brakes"...because they sound like sandpaper grinding...

The dude that bought Mama's '73 Olds comes by to see me sometimes. Even though he hasn't had it painted yet, he did something to the roof that looks like he tarred it. lol But I do know that isn't what he did. It looks 100% better, and he told me the other week he slowly worked up the speed so that she got used to going faster than 20 mph.

He has had it on the highway, and swears he has had it up to 120mph. It does register that! He claimed there was more pedal and that he thought it would go faster.

Since he got it, he drives it a LOT. I know this to be true...and from what he has said he has done basically no mechanical work on it. Before, Mama could drive 4 miles and water would be gushing from the radiator...

Now - no water problem. No radiator problem...drives like a tank and sounds like a growling bear just waiting to go!

if it had a vinyl covered roof that rotted the metal under he probably peeled off the vinyl and used an elastomeric paint (and some body filler) to make it look like it had new vinyl

Most of the vinyl was long gone..or was so rotted itself that it would easily come off and what was under there was rusted and looked like a heavy rain would just go on through the roof. Miraculously it seemed to get to a certain rotting point and it maintained there.

He said he used the heaviest trashbags available, some kind of glue and some kind of paint...it may have been the paint you said. It looked a little rough (if you were really studying it), but NOTHING like it did before.

it gives a bumpy texture ..is flexible to an extent and kind of looks like that rockguard stuff people spray on the rocker panels
